Not only will we see another possibly lengthy Immunity Challenge, Survivor: Winners at War episode 9 sneak peek videos show another Edge of Extinction test.

The Survivor: Winners at War episode 9 sneak peek videos will showcase moments that will air in this week’s episode, “War is Not Pretty.” No, it’s not called “We’re in the Majors;” that’s the same mistake from last week repeated again.

One of the reasons why I continue to harp on the Edge of Extinction is not to exacerbate a point that Jeff Probst has already conceded, but to solidify its negative consequences so that nobody can be emotionally manipulated into thinking it’s real Survivor. Having a jury of people consisting of those voted out all the way back to Day 2 (potentially) is ruinous, especially when any one of them can return from the game and win amongst a jury of their peers.

On an episode-to-episode microlevel, the Edge of Extinction already takes up way too much time for the challenges to earn fire tokens. Now in an episode where press photos show that it will have a Reward Challenge and an Immunity Challenge, throwing another Edge Challenge, as seen in the first of two Survivor: Winners at War episode 9 sneak peek videos, is going to make more aspects of the season feel rushed and underdeveloped.

Not only is “go on a scavenger hunt for a trinket” reminiscent to so many of these challenges this season, but the whole “history repeats itself” angle, and the clue itself is a repeat of what we saw when Aubry won an advantage in Edge of Extinction. Not only do we get the same returning challenge we saw in season 38, but we’re repeating actual clues that broadcast on television right before Winners at War began filming back in May 2019.

At least if you’re going to do repeats, do it with style. Each of the Survivor: Winners at War challenges have been played by at least one of the 20 castaways, but the Bermuda Triangle “stay on this increasingly narrow platform until you fall off” challenge highlights the other sneak peek video.

Even though Vecepia Towery wasn’t brought on this year, the legacy of her season lives on in this Immunity Challenge, which debuted in Marquesas. It was also featured in Caramoan, Cagayan, Cambodia, and Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers for the active castaways, in addition to Pearl Islands for the departed Queen Sandra.
