While we await word on production for Survivor season 41 to be kicked back up, CBS has announced the popular reality competition will return in the future.
Without sports on television, Survivor has become the contest of kings and queens. The competition has been ferocious as it has been entertaining, and it’s kind of a melancholic happy spreading throughout the fanbase as we enjoy the show as it comes rapidly to a close. We don’t even know when we’ll see the show again, seeing as production for Survivor season 41 has been delayed due to concerns of the novel coronavirus.
If you had been worried that CBS would dump the show entirely due to an inability to film, you don’t know about just how much of a ratings boon the show has been. The number one show on CBS in the 18-49 demo this television season is coming back for more, as CBS has announced today that Survivor season 41 is officially coming to the network.
We still don’t know when the show will return to television, as filming would normally have been wrapped up ahead of the Winners at War finale next Wednesday. However, CBS will be holding their upfronts virtually the following week on May 18 and May 19, and barring any further complications, we might get more information about the 2020-2021 fall schedule then.
Even though it would seem as though isolating 18-20 castaways away from others to film a completion program in Fiji would be enough of a precaution to start up filming, you have to realize that despite just 18 people falling sick from COVID-19 in the country, bringing ~400 crew members from across dozens of other countries into Fiji is too risky.
Currently, Fiji has instituted a ban on social gatherings, so we’ll have to wait and hear from CBS or members of the media to hear when we can expect to see Survivor season 41 will air on television.
