Worst Twists in Survivor History – Number 10: Team Tribal Council

  • First Appearance: Fiji (Season 14, 2007)

Staying on the topic of switching things up at tribal council, the next bad twist in Survivor history came in Survivor: Fiji. The tribes had officially merged, but their first immunity challenge was not an individual one.

Instead, the players each drew rocks before the challenge to determine teams for that day’s challenge. The winning team won immunity while the losing team had to go to tribal council and vote someone off out of that bunch.

It was an unfair twist because the tribes had merged, so having a team immunity challenge was silly. At that point, players should be playing individual games, but that wasn’t able to happen there.

To make matters worse, the losing team found out right after the challenge concluded that they had to go to tribal council right away. They had ZERO time to strategize or scheme and that didn’t bode well for Michelle Yi, who was the odd woman out and, as a result, was the easy pick to vote for.

Once Survivor is an individual game, there’s no need to have team immunity challenges. It was an unfair and stupid twist that thankfully hasn’t made another appearance.
