All-Returnee Survivor Seasons – Number 4: Game Changers (Season 34, 2017)

It was a tough call for which season got the bottom spot here, but I have Game Changers ranked slightly above All-Stars due to more blindsides. Both seasons were more on the dark side, but at least Game Changers had an entertaining pre-merge and a good winner.

The problem with both of these seasons, however, is that a lot of the fun, exciting players went out early. Game Changers saw an early boot list of Ciera Eastin, Tony Vlachos, Malcolm Freberg,  J.T. Thomas, and Sandra Diaz-Twine, which was rough.

Another big problem with Game Changers was the fact that the cast list did not live up to its moniker. Those names mentioned above could be considered game changers, yes, but there were also names like Jeff Varner, Hali Ford, Sierra Dawn-Thomas, Brad Culpepper, and Michaela Bradshaw, none of whom were game changers.

The dark cloud that hangs over Game Changers, however, is the unfortunate situation where Varner made the ugly decision to out Zeke Smith as transgender in an effort to prove he was deceitful. It was a disgusting act and fortunately got Varner’s butt kicked off that very night.

When looking back at Game Changers, no one remembers much else about it other than Varner’s disgusting outing and that part is unfortunate because Sarah Lacina played a terrific game.
