Boston’s Robs biggest moves on Survivor – Number 3: Inventing the Buddy System

Say what you want about Redemption Island and how it was rigged for either Rob or Russell to make it far into the game (didn’t work for Russell – just saying), but Rob took what he was given and played a really dominant game, even if it was his fourth time out there.

Rob came up with a strategy called the Buddy System in Redemption Island and this is what allowed him to essentially control his tribe once the merge came and prevent them from talking to the other tribe about anything. His goal was to get his Ometepe tribe to HATE the Zapatera tribe and to be rude about it.

Must Read. Boston Rob is a slightly overrated player. light

Just about any other cast doesn’t fall for this buddy system tactic, but the Redemption Island cast allowed Rob to basically control everything they did and that’s what helped get him to the end. No one was allowed to talk to the other team and if he found out they had been talking to them, that player was on the outs – just like  that.

While the Buddy System didn’t work so well for Rob in Winners at War because it was trying to be used against four former winners who aren’t morons, it did him well in his winning season and is what ultimately got him the victory on attempt number four.
