Worst Survivor Casts – Number 8: South Pacific (Season 23)

At this point, it’s really hard ranking these seasons because they all had really awful casts. South Pacific lands here because, yes while the cast was pretty bad, there were some decent players who made it interesting.

South Pacific was a captain season, bringing back Coach and Ozzy to compete against 16 new contestants. Unfortunately, Coach and Ozzy took up nearly all of the air time during the course of the season, so even if the cast hadn’t been terrible, we wouldn’t have known otherwise.

From what we did see though, South Pacific was mostly filled with unlikable people and there really wasn’t anyone to root for, especially for those of us who didn’t like Coach or Ozzy.

This season introduced fans to Brandon – Russell Hantz’s nephew – who also took up way too much air time and continued to shove Russell down our throats each week. We also had negative edits for both Sophie and Albert (two of three finalists), which is a shame because Sophie is an underrated winner.

The good from this season was Cochran and Dawn, who both returned a few seasons later for Caramoan. Cochran was bullied by his tribe early on though and that was uncomfortable to watch. We also saw Brandon bullying Michaela and other people throughout the season, which is never good television.

South Pacific gets lost in the shuffle because the cast was really unlikable and it rightfully earned its spot on this list of worst casts ever.
