Ranking the worst new player casts in Survivor history
Worst Survivor Casts – Number 4: Thailand (Season 5)
The first four seasons of Survivor had really good casts, which was important if the show wanted to continue their run of relevancy. Thailand was the first time we had a dud of a cast to watch, as Shii Ann might have been the only person viewers found themselves rooting for. No one else was remotely likable.
There’s not a lot of good to say about Thailand‘s cast, as Brian – the winner – has shown he’s a psychopath in the years after the show and there are several reasons why he wasn’t brought back for Winners at War, or any season for that matter.
The rest of the Chuay Gahn alliance that made the merge weren’t exactly great television or people that the viewers found themselves gravitating toward. It was the worst cast Survivor put together in the first era of the show and they showed quickly after that they could turn things around with good casting in seasons six and seven.
It’s rare to have a season where there’s truly not anyone to root for, but Survivor: Thailand is proof that they exist. It was the first season where we had a bad cast and that wouldn’t be a problem again until Fiji nine seasons later.
