The Teeth Thing…

Wow this was uncomfortable. I’ll give the backstory in case you don’t remember.

So, it’s shortly after the merge and Dawn has lost her retainer in the water. Dawn is bawling about this, as she needs her retainer desperately and threatened to pull herself from the game if it can’t be recovered.

Brenda, in an act of good will, dives into the water and finds the retainer. Dawn is eternally grateful for what Brenda did for her and it seems like such a happy moment.

Well… Dawn ends up helping blindside Brenda on Day 36 and Brenda leaves tribal council in tears. Dawn makes the final tribal council and Brenda berates her for what transpired at the water and asks Dawn if she would have really quit the game. When Dawn answers no, Brenda asks her to take out her teeth.

This becomes a really uncomfortable moment with the two women bickering back and forth. Eventually, Dawn does what Brenda asked and it’s certainly one of the most awkward and uncomfortable moments in the history of Survivor.

This is one of those moments that’s hard for me to watch years later because of how unnecessary it seemed. I liked Brenda before this moment, but I thought asking Dawn to do that was just a sign of Brenda being bitter and a poor sport.

Cochran’s Win

Cochran won Survivor: Caramoan unanimously and also made it through the game without having a single vote cast against him, meaning he played the second only perfect game in Survivor history. He doesn’t get a ton of credit from fans, which is surprising, as he controlled season 26 from the jump.

Cochran won challenges (yes, this was a thing that happened!), cut people before they cut him, and took two goats to the end, which gave him Survivor‘s second only perfect game. For that, he deserves major props because it’s hard to not get any votes thrown your way and then get every single one at the final tribal council.

Survivor: Caramoan usually falls anywhere between lower middle tier to just full on lower tier when it comes to seasons. It had its fair share of cringey moments and the boring pre-merge really knocked it down quite a bit.
