MTV’s The Challenge is changing things up this year with another season featuring both new players and veterans, called The Challenge: Cutthroat. And for fans of Survivor, this might be the perfect show to fill your Wednesday nights until Survivor 51 premieres at the end of September. Because this season, is all about our challengers working together to earn the prize money as a unit.
And with all 24 challengers being divided into three teams to compete for the prize together, that means we’re guaranteed to see two Survivor alum working side-by-side as it’s officially been confirmed that four past Survivor players will be joining the high-intensity physical franchise, set in Thailand this season.
Which Survivor favorites are joining The Challenge 42?
Not only have all four Survivor players previously competed on The Challenge before, but they’ve also made their mark in the Survivor history books in their own rights.
We’re getting past winners Michele Fitzgerald (Survivor: Kaoh Rong) and Chris Underwood (Survivor: Edge of Extinction) as well as runner-up—and widely debated deserved winner—of Survivor 43, Cassidy Clark. We’re also getting the return of Sydney Segal who was infamously the first victim of the Hourglass Twist back in Survivor 41.Â
While we’ve seen how tough all four players go when it comes to Survivor, we can expect them to go even harder for The Challenge: Cutthroat as they eat have something to prove.
Sydney made her The Challenge debut on Vets & New Threats where she secured the title of runner-up, but this time she’s back to take home the big win. And similarly, on The Challenge USA 2, Cassidy saved herself from elimination four times before just missing out on the final. Both have big drives to make it to the end.
As for our only two-time Survivor player entering the game, Michele is also a five-time The Challenge competitor, going into her sixth season of the show. Her best placement came in season 40—the latest season she’s competed on—when she placed 3rd (ironically the same placement she got on Survivor’s 40th season). Will the sixth time be the charm as Michele climbs the The Challenge ranks?
And with both his claiming of the title of Sole Survivor back on Survivor: Edge of Extinction as well as his win in The Challenge: USA 2, Chris is undefeated when it comes to his appearances on reality competition shows. Will his reign continue? Or is this the season where he finally meets an elimination he can’t come back from?
You can stream The Challenge: Cutthroat and cheer on your favorite Survivors starting Wednesday, August 5th on Paramount+. New episodes will release every Wednesday at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET.Â
