Survivor is nearing its landmark 50th season next year, proving the show's incredible impact on the industry and pop culture as a whole. Society has fed off of reality television ever since that first season back in Borneo, and has changed the landscape of American television forever. Hundreds of castaways and episodes later, the game is still going strong.
As one can imagine, the show's popularity has spawned all sorts of discussion groups, whether on social media, in the entertainment industry, through magazines, and other pop culture modes. Perhaps most influential in many ways, though, has been the podcasting community. So much so, in fact, that there are now endless amounts of Survivor podcasts, and reality television podcasts in general.
Fans of the show looking to hear some other analysis about the Survivor they know and love can get overwhelmed by all the choices out there now. Do not fret, though! Surviving Tribal is here to help you choose the podcasts that fans need to hear. Each one brings something different to the table, but they are all well worth the time and effort!
1. Rob Has A Podcast
No Survivor podcast list can be made without mentioning the OG. Rob Cesternino played on Survivor way back on season 6, and was an all-star two seasons later. After his appearances, he began a podcast to continue talking about the game he loved. That choice has blown up into one of the most well-known and trusted reality television sites in the world.
The RHAP universe is not just one show, but rather an entire brand. They have recap shows, analysis, interviews, and so much more. Insight comes from both fans as well as players who have lived the experience firsthand and have that knowledge that only they could attest to. If Survivor, or any reality television show, is your thing, then Rob Has a Podcast is a must-listen.
2. On Fire With Jeff Probst
While an official Survivor podcast may not necessarily offer the brutally honest that some other shows might, it does offer something entirely different and valuable to fans. They have a previous contestant on every season to pair with Jeff Probst and producer Jay Wolff. It is not this element that is unique, though. Instead, it is the perspective that no other podcast offers.
On Fire with Jeff Probst brings behind-the-scenes production knowledge. Fans get to hear how something happened, why something happened, and what the producers' thought process is on different parts of the game. Listeners get to know what it takes to create the show and what happens at each step, something no other podcast can really provide. If you have ever wanted to know behind-the-scenes about the game, look no further.
3. The Purple Rock Survivor Podcast
The Purple Rock Survivor Podcast is another analysis-based pod, but the unique flair is its creative, humorous, and entertaining approach. If you are looking to laugh and just enjoy takes on the game you love, this is the one for you. It has become a fan favorite for a reason, as their bold, confident, hilarious take on podcasting is unmatched in the Survivor landscape. Life is a party, and Purple Rock has invited everyone.
4. Future Past Survivor
Future Past Survivor is a podcast entirely based on the strategy of Survivor. Josh and Bryan break down every tiny little piece of the game and analyze the choices involved, for good and for bad. The hosts are incredibly engaging and enthusiastic, and offer some of the most insightful and in-depth analysis available. Strategy is not always exciting, but the host's passion, joy, and humor make it impossible not to listen to every single moment.
5. The Pod Has Spoken
This final show is another one started by a former Survivor player. Tyson Apostol has had a bit of a longer legacy than Rob C. in his Survivor resume, including a win on Survivor: Blood vs. Water. What made Tyson so notorious, though, was his trademark sarcasm and dry/dark humor. That same style is brought to The Pod Has Spoken, as well, balancing humor, entertainment, and unique analysis from both fan and player perspectives. Check it out, and understand Survivor in a way only Tyson can deliver!
