Boston Rob's legendary Survivor record could be broken in Survivor 50

Out of our 24 returning castaways, there is only one player who could shake up Survivor history forever in Survivor 50.
This edition features legendary winner, Boston Rob Mariano, who returns to the game to serve as a mentor to a group of 20 new castaways on SURVIVOR: Island of the Idols, when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 39th season, Wednesday, Sept. 25 (8:00-9:30PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Regardless of how you felt about the cast announcement, there's no doubt that we have some history-makers returning for Survivor 50.

We have people like Colby Donaldson, who set the bar for most individual wins in a single season that has only been met by five other players, including Ozzy Lusth. Chrissy Hofbeck tied the record for individual wins by a woman with four wins in her season, and Stephanie LaGrossa's incredible show of strength came when she was the first player to ever be on a tribe of one.

We also have Rick Devens, the King of Idols, who holds the record for most hidden immunity idols possessed in a single season. Cirie Fields wishes she'd had an idol when she was the first player ever eliminated by default, without a single vote against her, in Survivor: Game Changers, due to all other players being immune.

But the ultimate Survivor record is currently held by Boston Rob Mariano for most seasons and most days played in the show's 25-year history. While he won't be returning to play this season, there is one player who can break his record for the most days played!

Ozzy could surpass Boston Rob for the most days of Survivor played

Based on the fact that neither Boston Rob nor Parvati Shallow will be competing this season, or likely ever again on an American iteration of Survivor, Ozzy has to last at least 25 days to pass both top players and take the historic title for himself. Currently, Ozzy is sitting No. 3 on the list at 128 days played, total.

With a 26-day game ahead in Survivor 50, that means he'll have to make it to the Final Four to set a new Survivor record.

We shared the 10 Survivor players with the most days played in the game. We also bolded the Survivor 50 players who will certainly be moving up on this list.

1. Boston Rob Mariano: 152 days, 5 seasons

2. Parvati Shallow: 149 days, 4 seasons

3. Ozzy Lusth: 128 days, 4 seasons

4. Sandra Diaz-Twine: 126 days, 4 seasons

5. Cirie Fields: 121 days, 4 seasons

6. Tyson Apostol: 116 days, 4 seasons

7. Aubry Bracco: 111 days, 3 seasons

8. Amanda Kimmel: 108 days, 3 seasons

9. Amber Brkich Mariano: 107 days, 3 seasons

10. Rupert Boneham: 104 days, 4 seasons

Rob is also currently the only player with five seasons of competition under his belt, not including his season as a mentor on Survivor: Island of the Idols. This will be both Ozzy and Cirie's fifth season playing, as well, which will tie them for the most seasons played.

Cirie and Aubry also have a chance to take the No. 3 spot away from Ozzy, if either of them wins, and depending on how long the others last. Colby and Coach also have a chance to crack the top 10, currently sitting at a total of 98 and 96 days played, respectively.

So no matter what happens, we're likely going to see a pretty significant shift in the all-time ranking one way or another which will definitely make Survivor 50 a season to remember.
