Boston Rob Mariano is back in the world of reality TV, but it's not for Survivor. Not yet, anyway.
According to a report from NBC, Boston Rob will become the host of the new Deal or No Deal Island After Show with Boston Rob. New episodes of the series will air after Deal or No Deal Island season 2 where Boston Rob will break down what happened in each episode, share his thoughts about what it means and what's to come, and also interview the cast member who was eliminated in the previous episode.
The first episode of the Deal or No Island After Show with Boston Rob will air on NBC one day after the season premiere of Deal or No Deal Island season 2. The second season's first episode is actually on Tuesday, Jan. 7, but you'll see Boston Rob in his new gig on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. So, no, you won't be able to watch new episodes of Survivor on Wednesday nights in January, but you can tune in to watch the Survivor player with the most days spent in the game as the new host of the Deal or No Deal Island After Show. That's not too bad!
Boston Rob teased his return to Deal or No Deal Island this summer.
For those who don't recall, Boston Rob just competed in the first season of Deal or No Deal Island where he finished runner-up. Honestly, if not for a mistake in the finale, Boston Rob would have added a Deal or No Deal Island win to his running list of reality TV show wins, including Survivor: Redemption Island (season 22).
It's unclear at this point if Boston Rob has any plans to return to the beach any time soon. Prior to the Survivor 50 news, Boston Rob mentioned that he wasn't planning on returning. Will that change, though?
Survivor 50 is right around the corner next year, so it's definitely possible we'll see Boston Rob return. I know a lot of fans have him on their list for the Survivor 50 cast. It's almost hard to imagine him not returning to Survivor one final time in the biggest season yet. He's played the game more than any other player, so it just makes sense that he should be included, you know?
I don't think that this new hosting gig would stop Boston Rob. It's unclear when production will start on Survivor 50, but if it follows the normal production pattern, the season will likely be filmed in Fiji this summer following Survivor 49.
All I know is that if Boston Rob is returning, it's going to be very hard to keep this secret much longer! Fans will know almost immediately any of the big-time former Survivor players officially join the cast. It's just very hard to keep these castings secret these days.
Anyway, Boston Rob is coming back to a screen near you this winter, but it's probably not the series or the way Survivor fans want to see him. Stay tuned for more news about Survivor 50 and check out the Deal or No Deal Island After Show with Boston Rob on Wednesday, Jan. 8 on NBC!
