Boston Rob is heading back to the beach, but it's not for Survivor!
Boston Rob dropped a mysterious teaser for a new reality show on Instagram recently, according to a report from Monsters and Critics.
He shared a picture on Instagram of himself, smoking a cigar on the beach, with the beach in the background and waves crashing on the shore. In the caption, Boston Rob said, "And….That’s a Wrap!!!
….just wait till you see this one!!! #Shhhh!!! #SecretProject!"
He also included an emoji of the Panamian flag in the caption.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what Boston Rob is referring to, but anytime this dude posts a picture from a beach, fans are going to think of Survivor! He's only spent 152 days on the show. But, Deal or No Deal Island famously films in Panama. Boston Rob was on the first season of the show, and he did very well. He was a huge pull for the series, and audiences would definitely love to see him back.
This time, though, fans in the comments believe that Boston Rob will be back as the banker in the second season of the NBC reality series. We can't confirm or deny that yet, but it will likely be announced soon if that's true.
Deal or No Deal Island season 2 does not have a premiere date yet.
Boston Rob will be in The Traitors season 3 cast
Initially, it appears that some fans thought that Boston Rob was sharing a picture from the set of The Traitors season 3. That obviously was not true for a few reasons.
Although the picture is not from The Traitors season 3, it's been reported by Variety that Boston Rob will, indeed, be on the next season of The Traitors. He'll join fellow Survivor stars Tony Vlachos, Jeremy Collins, and Carolyn Wiger in the new season of the series.
According to fans on Reddit, filming on The Traitors season 3 has wrapped. There's no release date for the new season yet, but the first two seasons premiered in January 2023 and 2024, respectively. Most likely, we'll be waiting for The Traitors season 3 to hit Peacock in January 2025. We'll have to wait and see what happens!
Boston Rob still not confirmed for Survivor 50
Watching Boston Rob competing on other reality TV shows is all well and good, but I think I speak for Survivor fans everywhere when I say that we'd love to see Boston Rob return for Survivor 50, the upcoming 50th season of the series.
Jeff Probst claimed that the 50th season of the series will feature all-returning players. Before that announcement, Boston Rob confirmed that he was not interested in returning to Survivor.
Since then, Boston Rob followed up with Dalton Ross of Entertainment Weekly this summer.
"Like I told you the last time we talked, the current format, I don't feel the need to go back out there and play Survivor again, where we're going to go through the motions and they're going to vote me out."
So, it doesn't sound like Boston Rob is totally down to return to Survivor 50 without some changes to the game, but there's still a chance! He also told EW:
"Well, you never know. Maybe somebody in creative over there has some ideas."
So far, no cast members have been confirmed for Survivor 50, although there's been a lot of interest from players from previous seasons throwing their names in the ring. Boston Rob is one of the most popular Survivor players of all time. He's been on the show more than any other player, and that's not including his stint as a coach with Sandra Diaz-Twine on Survivor season 39, Island of the Idols, where they gave advice and helped players but did not play themselves.
Look, I don't think it's fair to have Survivor 50 without Boston Rob in some capacity. It sounds like the ball is in Probst's court right now.
We're still a few seasons away from Survivor 50, though. Survivor 47 premieres on CBS on Sept. 18, 2024.
