Survivor 47 release date announced
By Bryce Olin
CBS just announced the Survivor 47 premiere date, and it's actually really good news for fans! While many CBS shows are getting pushed to later in the fall, Survivor 47 premieres on CBS in just two, short months!
According to a report from Variety, Survivor 47 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Like most new seasons, Survivor 47 features a two-hour season premiere.
That's a full week ahead of when we were expecting the premiere. In more recent seasons, CBS has opted for a later release for new seasons of Survivor in the fall. This year, we're getting the premiere in mid-September. Yay for us! Most of the rest of the fall CBS shows got bumped to the week of Oct. 14 for the respective season premieres. That's basically a full month after Survivor 47 premieres. We'll take the win, for sure. This spring, CBS announced that the show would return in September, so we're glad they stuck with that instead of bumping it to October.
According to CBS, Survivor 47 started filming around the time that Survivor 46 finished airing on CBS. That season saw Kenzie Petty best Charlie Davis by two votes to win the most recent season. Production ended on the new season sometime this summer!
We have not seen the full cast of Survivor 47 announced, but we do know that Jon Lovett, a comedian and host of the Pod Save America podcast, has joined the cast. There will be no returning players in Survivor 47. Probst announced that news at an event a while back. In fact, there are no returning players through season 47, season 48, and season 49. Survivor 50, however, has been reported to be another all-star season with a full cast of returning players.
CBS shared the first look at Survivor 47 in June 2024! You can check that out here:
Other reminders for Survivor 47! New episodes will air every Wednesday throughout the fall, assuming there are no interruptions for, say, the election or other events. The final should air sometime in early December!
If you haven't been following along lately, Survivor 47 episodes will likely be 90-minutes throughout the season aside from the season premiere and season finale/reunion special.
Oh, and new seasons in the New Era of Survivor are only 26 days of gameplay. In the past, new seasons were 39 days of gameplay. It's definitely changed the game and not always in a good way.
We'll share more news about Survivor 47 as we find out! Stay tuned for more trailers, the release of the full cast, and more.
