Ever since the Survivor 50 finale aired, the Survivor alum and fans have gone on the record about their thoughts regarding the season’s outcome. A few weeks ago, Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano threw his two cents into the mix, stating he thought Aubry Bracco deserved the win, as the majority of the jury voted for her over his protégé, Jonathan Young.
But now, Mariano has changed his tune, saying that although he still didn’t take anything away from Bracco’s win, he felt that some of the jurors from Survivor 50, like Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth, had "justified" their votes for Bracco. Mariano then doubled down, stating, "As a jury member, you can say whatever you want." But I think in their mind sometimes they feel that justifying it makes it logical.”
Obviously, these remarks only opened Pandora’s box, and it was only a matter of time before either Fields or Lusth spoke up about Mariano’s reasoning to question their decisions as jurors. And now, Survivor legend Cirie Fields has spoken to set the record straight once and for all.

"I don't need excuses to justify anything I do or say." - Cirie Fields to People
In an exclusive interview for People, Fields succinctly responded to this unnecessary mess by saying, "I'll be 56 years old in July. I don't need excuses to justify anything I do or say. Never have, never will. Period."
Fields is no stranger to Survivor strategy, with six seasons to her name: Survivor: Panama, Survivor: Micronesia, Survivor: Heroes vs Villains, Survivor: Game Changers, Australian Survivor: Australia V The World, and Survivor 50. She’s served on five juries and has consistently voted for the ultimate winner, giving her a deep understanding not only of what’s at stake but also of the perspectives of her fellow jurors.
Therefore, the argument that she or even Lusth, who’s also had plenty of jury experience, would need to justify their layered jury decisions to make sense for people like Young or Mariano to deem them logical is completely nonsensical. Didn’t Young vote for his friend, Mike Turner, to win Survivor 42? I bet Mariano wouldn’t question Young’s decision, nor would he probe Young to justify it to make it seem logical—even though he was the only person who didn't vote for the winner that season.

Fields’ reality TV resume also includes other shows, such as The Traitors and Snake in the Grass, both of which she won. In 2023, Fields competed in the 25th season of Big Brother, where she was also part of the jury.
As to what adventure is next for her, Fields stated, "This has been the best year and continues to be one of the best years of my life. So please just stay tuned…There may be other shows, there may be some commercials. There's a lot going on."
While Fields' journey on Survivor might be over, her mark on the show is undeniable. Fields continuously demonstrated how she could outwit and outlast her competitors by charming her friends and foes to look elsewhere until it was too late for them. While a win was ultimately elusive, Fields nonetheless takes the crown as one of the franchise’s best social and strategic players over 50 seasons, worldwide.
