Coach trolls fans with Survivor 50 fake spoiler reveal

Benjamin "Coach" Wade appeared to be trolling fans into thinking that he'd spoiled Survivor 50.

Before Benjamin "Coach" Wade joined the cast of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, he'd already competed on the show three times and been inducted into the Survivor Hall of Fame in 2015.

Once it was revealed that Coach had joined the upcoming landmark season's cast, I wanted to see him engage in a truly unique feud with Angelina Keeley. I also couldn't wait to see if Coach's complicated history with Ozzy Lusth will affect the season.

The biggest reason why I'm happy that Coach will be part of Survivor 50 is that he is such a passionate person that I know he will mix things up during the season. For proof of the fact that Coach is unlikely to be a passive part of the season, all anyone has to do is look at his recent social media activity. After all, Coach began seemingly trolling fans into potentially thinking he'd spoiled Survivor 50 soon after the season's cast were known to have returned home.

At the end of June 2025, it was revealed that Survivor 50: In the Hands of Fans had finished filming, and it became clear that the cast had made their way home days later. Once Coach got home, he made his return to social media.

He claimed on X stating that Survivor's non-disclosure agreement wouldn't stop him from posting about the season.

"There's a huge NDA that survivor players all sign and take very seriously, especially being on a big one like #survivor50. It doesn't apply to the Dragonslayer," Coach tweeted.

In response to that post, a user asked Coach to "Drop the boot order," which inspired the legend to ask that person if they wanted to know who Survivor 50's first 5 boots were. After getting confirmation from that fan that they wanted to know which Survivor 50 would be the first to ousted, Coach dropped a post containing a list.

"Coach, Joe, Charlie, Steph, Dee. Good People one and all"

The thing about communicating through text alone is that it can be very easy to be misunderstood. For example, someone can happily respond to a text, and the reader can read their words and believe they are furious. Similar to sending texts, social media posts can easily be misinterpreted.

In the case of Coach's supposed spoilers, several of the responses that Coach's list got on X took the supposed boot order seriously. Seemingly in an attempt to make it clear that he wasn't being serious, Coach then responded to his own post with a claim that was ridiculous on its face.

Since Redemption Island and Edge of Extinction are both twists that give players chances to re-enter the game after being voted out, the idea that a season would feature both of them makes no sense. On top of that, the idea that a season would have the time to feature Exile Island, Edge of Extinction, and Redemption Island while still featuring the strategy is even more ridiculous.

As a result, anyone who'd taken Coach's previous posts seriously should have known that he was trolling with that post. Still, roughly two weeks later, Coach posted on X again, claiming the NDA doesn't apply to him. Only this time, Coach didn't keep the joke going by posting any more so-called spoilers.

Survivor 50 premieres early next year on CBS and Paramount+! Stay tuned for more news about the season!
