“While I was hugging him, he said, ‘I effed up. I screwed up.’ And that sort of enraged me…” Linnea Capobianco tells Parade.

By now—whether you’ve watched episode 5 of Survivor 51 or not—you’ve heard about the captivating, deadlocked vote that gave fans this week’s “permanent uncertainty.”

And now, in an interview with Parade, Linnea Capobianco—the second person voted out in episode 5 and the seventh person eliminated from the game—is revealing her side of the story and why made her the most mad about her blindside.

“I’m good at math. The numbers just kept coming.” The original Savu member tells Mike Bloom during her exit interview, “I was truly flabbergasted. We started off four vs. two. Suddenly it was four vs. four. I mean, the math was not mathing!”

Which we definitely saw. Linnea confesses that her jaw dropped for “like every single thing this season” so it only made sense for her blindsiding Tribal Council to be a jaw dropping moment for her as well.

While Danny Kilby did reveal that Maggie Nestor gave him an extra vote, no one knew that Lewis Kelly also was given an extra vote—despite the fact that they all suspected he had something after spending the first three days of the game on Exile Island. So when six votes were read and host Jeff Probst continued pulling votes, of course the Savu four within the new Dina tribe were surprised.

And apparently, there were more Day 1 alliances being made than just the Helicopter Alliance that the edit gave us…

“Something they really did not show at all is my relationship with Kilby.” Linnea explained. “He was my number one Day 1 alliance at marooning. Kilby was the only person that I bonded with for more than two minutes… The bond was there; the bond was real. And the betrayal was really painful.”

And though Kilby’s betrayal felt the worst, she’s even more confused about why Maggie was so set on her elimination.

“The most interaction we had was a hug at marooning on the first day,” Linnea says about Maggie, “and then a one-minute chat when she came and delivered those evil advantages to Lewis and Kilby…I have no idea why she came for me.”

And when the moment came that Kilby was willing to go to rocks for Lewis, but wasn’t willing to save her, she was genuinely upset. But what upset her even more was what he said as she was leaving to get her torch snuffed.

“While I was hugging him, he said, ‘I effed up. I screwed up.’” The entrepreneur recalls, “And that sort of enraged me because I was like, ‘Really?! You can’t even own it?!’”

Linnea was truly hoping that Kilby would change his mind before her torch got snuffed, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and she became the seventh player to go home.
