Scott Probst, the younger brother of Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst, is no longer with us. His passing was confirmed by their brother Brent Probst in an Instagram post earlier today. Scott was a member of the Survivor family, acting as an art assistant on the series from 2006-2008 as well as a cameraman from 2011-2012—according to his IMDB profile.

In the announcement, Brent shares a brief, but touching tribute to his brother, “Some sad news, our brother Scott is no longer with us. He was a great brother, son, and friend. I will miss him so much [red heart emoji] I’m so sad he is gone.”

The Survivor community has taken to the comments to share their condolences with past players like Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X winner Adam Klein commenting, “I am so terribly sorry Brent. Sending love to you and your whole family.” Survivor 47’s Teeny Chirichillo shared, “Think of you and your family. I’m so sorry,” while Survivor 45’s Kendra McQuarrie said, “So so sorry for your loss [blue heart emoji] sending lots of love to the family.”

Brent’s daughter Amanda Probst—Jeff and Scott’s niece, who has also worked on the longrunning show within the last few years—shared two comments. Simply, “I love you dad,” before adding on, “and uncle.”

The news comes as fans and players prepare for the upcoming finale and live reunion of Survivor 50 on Wednesday, May 20. There has been no official word for CBS or Probst’s representatives regarding any changes to his current schedule or public appearances.

We in the Survivor fan community of course are sending Jeff and the entire Probst family love and thoughts during this difficult time. Over the years, Jeff has supported many Survivor families during times of loss and there’s no doubt that his Survivor family—as well as the entire community of fans who have watched him over the last 25 years—will support him now.

Inconceivable
“Inconceivable” – This week’s immunity challenge is riddled with frustration, putting slow and steady gameplay to the test. As the race to $2M draws closer, idols and advantages come to the forefront. Then, a self proclaimed “rat” at the Manulevu camp spills information in hopes of leading to personal triumph, on SURVIVOR 50, Wednesday, May 13 Photo: Robert Voets/CBS ©2025 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. As is common when a beloved member of the Survivor family passes away, the upcoming episode is usually dedicated in their honor. With episode 12 of Survivor 50 only a couple of days away, there is the possibility it will be dedicated to Scott, but with the finale so close, there’s also the option for CBS to dedicate the more momentous episode in his honor instead. We will find out soon if either of those occur.

At this time, there has been no information released regarding memorial services or where donations can be made in Scott’s honor. We respect the family’s privacy and will share updates here should any additional news surrounding the loss be provided.
