Survivor 47 may still be on our screens, but that doesn't mean that we aren't thinking ahead. With Season 50 fast approaching, it makes sense that fans have questions. And we aren't the only ones, as Jeff Probst is opening up about Season 50, which is set to begin filming in the spring of 2025.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the longtime host of Survivor talked about what they are hoping for when it comes to the casting process for the iconic season. Unlike season 40 when they opted for a title of 'Winners at War,' for season 50, it is all about the theme of celebration.

This does not mean that Jeff doesn’t want contestants who are willing to fight for the prize, but he does want joy to be a big part of the season. In fact, according to him “celebration is the first word, and that equals joy. I’m looking for those moments that are going to be really fun and really funny.” And as fans of the show, we want that too. We want players who bring more lightness to the screen, while also having a sense of humor.

When speaking about the players that he would like to see come back for Season 50, Probst explained that “we want players who are also excited to be on it.” Considering this is a celebration of 25 years of Survivor, it makes sense that they want players who not only want to be there but also, “joyful players who are in a good mood and want to play. We’re not looking for disgruntled players looking to settle a score. We are looking for players who want a second chance, who have something to prove to themselves.”

At this point, it does not seem as if they have made the final decisions for who they plan to cast for Season 50. However, as Jeff pointed out in the interview, there needs to be secrecy around the season in order for the fans to get excited. So even if they had made casting decisions, we really wouldn’t know that yet. And the players themselves would likely not give anything away, because at this point there are still two full seasons that we have yet to watch before we even get to Season 50.

Obviously we can't wait to find out who will be brought back for Season 50 of Survivor. But at the same time, we still have Season 47 to finish, plus Seasons 48 and 49 to enjoy as well.
