Jeff Probst says Survivor 49 is unlike anything fans have seen in a long time

Jeff Probst revealed one way Survivor 49 is different from almost every other season so far.
“Master Class in Deception” – Loose lips sink ships when one castaway’s frustrations put a wedge between them and their tribe. A shared meal breeds connection between tribemates as they discuss race and heritage. Then, an emotional immunity challenge brings two adversaries closer than ever imagined, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, March 26 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand

Survivor 49 premieres on CBS next month, and Jeff Probst is finally dropping some teasers about the upcoming season. According to the host with the most, it's going to be a hot one!

In a recent interview with Gold Derby about Survivor's Emmy achievements and Survivor regrets, Probst shared a huge teaser from Survivor 49 and mentioned it's one of the hottest seasons, literally, of the show ever.

Here's what Probst told the outlet about the new season:

"What was unique about this season in terms of Fiji was, it was hot. This ranks is one of the hottest seasons we've ever done. It's like China hot. I'm sweating through my shirts, I'm having trouble remembering things. We're just now starting to edit it, but I think it's going to come out in the show that additional cognitive decline is fast. And you'll see it at Tribal. When I say to somebody early on, what's your name? And they say, 'Uh, don't tell me, I know.' I wondered as it was happening, are they just kind of losing their minds, and is that why they're just so funny? But there's definitely a fun sense of humor."

It's interesting Probst dropped such a big secret this early! We're still a full month away from the Survivor 49 premiere, but I'm not complaining that Probst is opening up about the new season. It's just not often we get updates this early. We are a few weeks ahead of the casting announcement, as well. Typically, CBS rolls our the new Survivor cast in early September a few weeks before the new season premieres. We are ready for that, and more news from Probst.

Speaking of that news, I don't know if I love that tease, though! I feel so much empathy for these players. I know they sign up for this, but no food, little water, and all of the other conditions they face are tough enough. Adding excessive heat is only going to make things harder, and I don't love to see people get tortured out there.

It's the same when there are torrential rainstorms, and the players just sit there, huddled together for warmth, soaking wet for days. I don't know how I could endure that, and that's why I'll never apply to play Survivor. I'm much more of a Traitors person in that regard. I like a little bit of comfort, you know?

I am intrigued that Probst is basically claiming the heat contributes a lot of comedy to the season. I'm very curious to see how it impacts the gameplay, especially early in the game. We all know how that time sets the stage for the merge and beyond. If players are really struggling to think, can they connect on those deeper levels necessary to develop relationships to win the game? We'll find out!

Stay tuned for more news about Survivor 49, coming to CBS and Paramount+ on Wednesday, Sept. 24!
