It’s time to update your reading list because a new book about our favorite show Survivor is due to arrive on March 2, 2027, written by former PEOPLE editor Cynthia Wang who has covered the show since its first season.
According to a synopsis shared with PEOPLE, the book, The Official Survivor Companion, will feature “exclusive stories and interviews with fan-favorite contestants and crew, along with an intimate look into the show's various eras.” And on top of that, we’ll get a foreword written by long-time Survivor host and showrunner Jeff Probst.
“Talking to Jeff Probst in depth about his journey from host to executive producer allowed him, I hope, to reflect on his legacy and that of the series,” Wang shared with PEOPLE, exciting that her conversations with both the host and legendary players over the last 25 years will allow fans to, “learn what it's like to be a…survivor from various players.”
We’ve seen books including information about the long-running series from players across the years. Survivor icons like Parvati Shallow, Rob Cesternino, Stephen Fishbach, and more have recounted their experiences both in and out of the game, but this will be the first of its kind to share exclusive insights by players and crew from Survivor: Borneo all the way up to the latest Survivor 50.

“The insights they have shared with me, from how the show is put together to all of the great on-screen moments they've participated in, are too rich to keep to myself!” Wang announced. “Now all of the things I've come to appreciate about Survivor—and the people who love it—can be found in one place.”
This will include all sorts of insights, like how challenges are developed, how immunity idols are hidden, and even how bad the players actually smell to the crew. Basically all the burning fan questions from throughout the years will be addressed.
This will truly be an incredible book for every Survivor fan—whether new to the series or the day one ride or dies. The amount of information from this book alone could probably fuel an entire behind-the-scenes TV special, but I’m personally excited to dive into the world of Survivor through the words of a journalist who’s seen the show from both the inside and the outside.
The Official Survivor Companion will release March 2, 2027 and yes, we’ll be counting down the days until we get to read it with all of you.
