With a new episode of Survivor 51 tonight, hopefully we’ll get to see more of the reality behind going from two to three tribes. Specifically, the repercussions our castaways will have to deal with while trying to play a game of strategy and deception within small groups.

And a new sneak peek for episode 5, “Not Here to Get a Pedicure,” is proving that the biggest hindrance on the game could actually be the fact that tribes are so compact now.

Watch the sneak peek below:

In the new clip, we see Lewis Kelly narrating a day-in-the-life at the new Dina camp. The biggest observation he’s made? It’s impossible to actually play the game, especially with such social players around.

On Toka, he was able to easily take control because there were so many other players around at all times that it wasn’t hard to pair off with one or two people and go chat. But now, being only one of six players at the entire camp, there’s nowhere to hide. The only way to talk strategy is to join the conversation and make bonds outside of the game to earn trust in the game.

But considering he grew up in a different country than either Danny Kilby and Eric Macksoud, he doesn’t understand most of the pop culture references they’re making during their chatty time.

So while those two seem to be the conversation leaders at camp, Lewis is just smiling and nodding, trying to figure out how to find the right positioning in his new tribe.

I think Lewis is in a really good place in the game, still, though. He controlled the swing vote at his last Tribal Council while still a part of Toka by getting Carter Krull in on his viewpoint, I could see him doing the same with Sharonda Cox. If the two ever get a chance to actually talk, they could be a dangerous pairing.

And as it seems the Helicopter Alliance may be on the verge of crashing and burning, Sharonda could potentially use another ally who has connections with the opposite tribe she started on. If the merge comes and Sharonda has Angelica “Jelly” Loblack and Ori Jean-Chalres on her side (assuming Devin Way is out before then) while Lewis minimally has Carter Krull on his side, that’s a tight 5 that could easily get some extra votes week-to-week.

Thankfully it’s not much longer until we get to—hopefully—see some more strategy play out when Survivor 51 episode 5, “Not Here to Get a Pedicure,” airs tonight, Wednesday, October 21 at 8 p.m. ET, on CBS and Paramount+!
