On June 7, 2024, Rachel LaMont won Survivor 47 against fellow Gata member Sam Phalen and Tuku member Sue Smey in a 7-1-0 vote. While audiences didn't see the results from Survivor 47's Final Tribal Council until Dec. 18, Rachel had already been keeping the secret of having won her season after playing an undoubtedly well-rounded game and an impressive Final Tribal performance in front of a jury of her peers.
On June 7, 2025, Rachel shared a post on her Instagram account, @rachel.a.lamont, featuring several photos of Survivor 47 to commemorate her win. Alongside her post, Rachel wrote the following caption:
"A year ago today in Fiji, Sue, Sam and I duked it out at Final Tribal Council and Survivor 47 came to an end. It's been a year, and it still feels absolutely insane that I actually won. I wonder if that feeling will ever go away, but I doubt it!!"
Rachel's journey throughout Survivor 47 wasn't easy, especially as she lost her number one ally and friend, Anika Dhar, quite early during the pre-merge, with a blindside against both of them. Knowing she was at the bottom, Rachel pivoted her strategy and grew closer to Sam even though he had just orchestrated Anika's elimination. Two tribal councils later, Rachel was gifted the "Safety Without Power" advantage by Sol Yi and successfully used it as she evaded being voted out at this point.
Masterfully, Rachel also used her "Shot in the Dark" in a never-seen-before way, as Rachel played it not to cancel votes against her, but rather to expose who truly was aligned with her, and most importantly, against her, as several players' reactions exposed how they truly felt when they thought Rachel could be immune. Rachel was blindsided once more as Sierra Wright was voted out next, but this didn't deter Rachel, as she used this opportunity to grow closer to her long-time rival, Andy Rueda.
By winning several individual immunity challenges, finding an idol in the middle of the camp, orchestrating the demises of several key players during the post-merge, and coming out victorious in the feud against master strategist Genevieve Mushaluk, Rachel arrived at the Final Tribal Council with an impressive resume in her favour, which wasn't ignored by the jury.
Seeing as Sam was the only one who could win against her at this point, Rachel pointed out her game was better than Sam's, as Sam never truly recovered after his ally Sierra was voted out. In the end, the jury sided with Rachel, and all but Kyle Ostwald ended up voting for her to win.
In her post, Rachel also acknowledged her fellow finalists. Firstly, she congratulated Sue on her 60th birthday - wait, her 46th birthday, as a tongue-in-cheek joke since Sue had lied through the game by saying she was in her forties instead of in her fifties. Secondly, Rachel also tagged Sam by quipping that she and Sam would continue to bicker and make up until the day they died.
To round up her post, Rachel lastly wrote:
"So thankful for this 3, for our jury, and for our incredible cast. Happy anniversary fam!! 🦇"
