Rachel LaMont finds Safety Without Power advantage in unaired scene in Survivor 47
By Bryce Olin
I'm not going to lie; when I watched Survivor 47 episode 7, "Our Pickle on Blast," I felt like we were missing a crucial scene. I understand why it was left out. Survivor opted to build suspense at tribal council, instead of letting viewers in on the secret that Rachel LaMont was the person who received Sol Yi's gift, the Safety Without Power advantage.
Well, as it turns out, Survivor did release the unaired clip of Rachel finding the advantage on the Survivor YouTube Channel. It's honestly a great scene! I wish it made the episode.

Right before heading to tribal council, Rachel found the scroll in her bag. She takes off into the jungle to open the advantage in peace. In the scene, we see Rachel can choose the Block a Vote or Safety Without Power advantage, but it's obvious which one Rachel was going to choose.
Remember, at this point, it's five former Tuku members against Rachel, the lone Gata member of the group. Somehow, the rock draw resulted in Rachel being paired with the Tuku tribe. She's clearly on the bottom. As we learned at tribal council, the Tuku tribe was going to stay five players strong after trying to play it like they were considering voting out Gabe or another Tuku player.
"Someone has sent me power in this game when I'm the least powerful I've ever been," Rachel said. "It's incredible. I can not believe it's happening. It is the lifeline I desperately needed."
We all know what happened after this. Rachel went to tribal council, pretended to be in jeopardy until the very last moment, and then played the advantage right before Jeff Probst told the players to start voting.
It was a brilliant move from Rachel. First of all, it allowed her time to reveal the Tuku tribe's plan. They were going to vote her out. They were not going to save her, so she knows that when working with the rest of the Tuku players in the game. She's not going to be their priority.
In addition, she revealed to the whole rest of the tribe that Tuku was going to stick together. It paints massive targets on their back moving forward in the game.
In the clip, we saw Rachel toy with the idea of using the Block a Vote advantage. Had the Tuku players been more clear about their plans and eager to work with Rachel, it looks like Rachel might have considered playing the Block a Vote instead of Safety Without Power.
"If I could figure out where the votes actually lie on Tuku right now, because it's a little muddy still, I think I could use this Block a Vote to really change up and, like, make sure the direction I want it to go, happens," Rachel said.
Clearly, she trusted her intuition to keep herself safe, and it worked out. The Tuku tribe regrouped, and they voted out Tiyana Hallums, who was heartbroken to be voted out.
Now, it's going to be very interesting to see how Rachel and Sol move forward in the game. There's definitely the makings of a possible alliance. Sol just saved Rachel's life in the game. That has to count for something!
We'll find out in Survivor 47 episode 8 on Wednesday, Nov. 6!
