Star Toomey shares her only regret from Survivor 48 (and it wasn't giving Eva Erickson an immunity idol)

The fourth juror of Survivor 48's sole regret can be traced back a few episodes.

Being a fan favorite is not an easy feat on Survivor. Receiving a near-purple edit on the show is even harder. Starting your time in the game on the bottom of your tribe, making it to merge, and still coming out as a fan favorite? That may be the most difficult task of all.

And yet somehow, this was a feat that Star Toomey was able to achieve. Fans everywhere are mourning the loss of a bright and endlessly kind player on a season with some less-than-charismatic contestants dominating the strategic game. While her game has come to an end, the player who has more than lived up to her name has had the time of her life on the show.

Despite what you may think, there isn't much that Star would change about her time on 48. While she may have received a minimal edit throughout Survivor 48, Star Toomey is leaving the game with her head held high and no regrets… except for one thing.

The fan favorite amongst both casual and superfans stated in her exit interview with Entertainment Weekly that her only regret throughout the game was voting out Sai in the double Tribal Council in episode 7.

Toomey told Dalton Ross:

“My only regret is I didn't save Sai. If I would've saved Sai, the game would've been different because that was the only time where me, Chrissy, and even Mitch could have worked together. Obviously, Joe had the immunity necklace that day, but Eva didn't. And if we were ever going to get anyone out and break that alliance, that was the only time we could do it.”

Sai Hughley and her fellow Vula teammate Cedrek McFadden were voted off simultaneously in the seasonal double Tribal Council. Sai, whose team was the first to go to Tribal Council that episode, was the last member to not make the jury.

Following this tribal council, the “Strong 5” alliance of Joe Hunter, Eva Erickson, who Star gave a hidden immunity idol to earlier this season, Shauhin Davari, Kyle Fraser, and David Kinne had been dominating the merge portion of 48. Although Kinne himself was blindsided in the previous episode, it was back to business as usual in the next episode.

While Star attempted to force a rock draw in this past episode with the likes of Mary Zheng and Kamilla Karthigesu, but fellow outsider Mitch Guerra’s hesitancy to trust them left them to instead go after each other. Star was then ousted in a 5-3 vote, becoming the fourth juror as result.

As a member of the jury, Star will be one of the 8 players to vote for the winner of 48. The winner will be announced during the season finale on Wednesday, May 21, on CBS and Paramount+.
