Episode 3 of Survivor 48 saw another member of the Vula tribe leaving the island after a historic tribal council. Unfortunately for Justin, he was the latest casualty of the Vula crumble, as Cedrek made the decision to send him out of the game instead of Sai. So it likely comes as no surprise that as episode four kicks off, it’s time for this tribe to chat, although it wasn't a nighttime chat.
On the Vula beach, Cedrek and Sai head off on a hunt for the idol after leaving a note in sticks for Mary letting her know. At one point, both Sai and Mary have a chat about how Cedrek went against his ally, Sai. Now it sounds like Mary and Sai are planning to work together.
Episode 4 of Survivor starts early with a tribal shakeup
Considering Vula is down to just three players, it makes sense that Survivor decided to basically start the episode with a shakeup of the tribes. So right away, we have a tribe switch, so what do the new tribes look like?
The new Civa:
- Chrissy (part of the old Civa)
- Mitch (part of the old Civa)
- Cedrek (formerly Vula)
- Sai (formerly Vula)
- Bianca (formerly Lagi)
The new Vula:
- Joe (Formerly Lagi)
- Shauhin (Formerly Lagi)
- Thomas (Formerly Lagi)
- Kyle (Formerly Civa)
- Kamilla ( Formerly Civa)
The new Lagi:
- David (Formerly Civa)
- Eva (The old Lagi)
- Charity (Formerly Civa)
- Star (The old Lagi)
- Mary (Formerly Vula)
After such a massive shakeup, which tribes will prove to be strong enough to win the next immunity challenge? Will the Vula troubles linger on now that no one from the original tribe is even living on this beach anymore? And who will end up heading home now that the alliances that have been formed are in jeopardy?
Thomas is the fourth Survivor player voted out on Survivor 48
After a tribal council that really gave us a better idea of who Kamilla, Kyle, and even Thomas are, as players and people, it was anyone's game. But Kyle ended up playing his idol, so who does that leave? While three votes were placed on Kyle, those votes don't count.
So who got the other votes? That would be Thomas. In the end, it was Thomas heading home from this new Vula tribe.
But how did we get to this point?
The game has now changed and it is time for a new home for many

At the new Lagi, Eva connects with the rest of the team by throwing out Star's name as a possible vote for who to go home if they lose. She also connects with David because of their similar interests.
At the new Civa, Sai is excited over the new beach and how well put together it is. Plus, this tribe has food, which is a win for so many. Bianca tells Sai she wants to work with her and Cedrek, but Sai responds back with the fact that she needs to really think about that because of Cedrek.
The new Vula tribe finds the disaster that is their new beach. And it becomes clear that this tribe needs to build their tribal beach from the ground up. They don't even have a map to get to the well and there are no supplies. Kamilla revealed that you can't walk away from the Journey challenges, which shines a spotlight on Thomas who has lied to his alliance about how his Journey went down.
Back at Civa, Mitch, and Cedrek connect over the fact that apparently Ced used to stutter as a child. And the two look like they might have formed a solid alliance based on this shared connection. While Cedrek looks to be trying to keep working with Sai, it sounds like she has no problem throwing him under the bus by telling Bianca that he voted for her at tribal.
And when it comes to the new Lagi, David and Eva continue to connect, as they talk about their former tribes. He admits to her that he and Charity are not close and that she is going to be the one voted out if they went to tribal on his old tribe.
The new tribes take on their first reward and immunity challenge after their swaps
For this challenge, the teams have to race to remove heavy sandbags from a cube before then working as a team to push the cubes forward in order to retrieve hanging sandbags that they have to throw through a small frame to land on a barrel. From there, they have to dig out a puzzle piece and then three tribe members have to solve a puzzle.
The reward this time is fresh fruit. For the first tribe to win, it is a large selection of fruits, while the second tribe gets a smaller basket of produce.

Vula gets off to a solid start and is able to get their cube moving quickly, followed pretty quickly by Lagi. Behind the rest of the teams, we have the Civa team continuing to fight. Vula is fighting hard for this immunity, but Mitch helps get Civa out in front on the small bag toss.
Both Civa and Vula are quickly on the puzzle, but Lagi doesn't stop fighting and are able to get into the puzzle-solving while the other teams are working on it. While Vula thinks they have it, they don't have it just yet so they have to go back and keep working.
After making it to the puzzle last, Lagi ends up solving the puzzle first and winning the first immunity and a larger reward. And with the second immunity, we have Civa with the win. This means Vula is once again heading to the tribal council, even with a brand new tribe!
Vula is heading back to tribal council for the fourth time
Vula now has to determine who is going home after the loss and we see players doing one-on-ones. But it sounds like the old Lagi players are trying to take out the two Civa players. Kyle and Kamilla are playing it like they are not playing this game together at all, but they are actually straight-up allies and possibly each other's number ones.
The old Lagi trio is torn between Kamilla and Kyle and Thomas is talking about potentially using his steal a vote if he thinks something is up. Kyle and Kamilla talk about how to use their advantages to stay in this game. At the beach, Shauhin starts going through Kyle's bag after Thomas convinces him to do it and Kamilla is sitting there. So she tells Kyle what happened.
She ends up giving Kyle her extra vote and tells him he needs to play his idol. But, this could leave her open to being the one going home.
It's the first tribal council for all of the new Vula tribe members
Shauhin opens the tribal council by making it clear that he and the other Lagi members are tight and there are no cracks between them. Kamilla makes it clear that she went to the former Lagi members and said she would stand with them and vote out Kyle. This leads to Kyle saying that he understands why Kamilla would fight for herself.
This entire tribal council has an entirely different feel from the ones that came before because this is an entirely new Vula tribe. Kamilla ends up really opening up and saying that she is hardest on herself, but that she has also learned that she really is strong and she is able to do this.
With an idol in hand, Kyle has protection, but who does that leave going home? In the end, it was Thomas who found his torch snuffed.
