We all love a good hot take and after 48 seasons, Survivor fans definitely have a few as do the season’s current players.
Before the new season began, Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Dalton Ross decided to try something fun by asking each member of the Survivor 48 cast to write down a Survivor hot take. While some of the players went for mild takes, a few players used the opportunity to go scorched earth with a few cheap shots against one of the greatest players to ever play the game of Survivor.
“Boston Rob is not a Survivor legend, sorry Jeff,” wrote Kamilla Karthigesu, a sentiment shared by Mitch Guerra who wrote, “Boston Rob is overrated!”
Woof! We get having a hot take, but we’re not sure we can agree with Kamilla or Mitch’s stance on Boston Rob. Whether you love him or hate him, there is no denying that Boston Rob is a legend of the game.
While Boston Rob didn’t exactly have the best first season when he made his debut in Survivor 4: Marquesas with a tenth-place finish, he made a major impression on fans and landed an invite to compete as part of Survivor 8: All-Stars where he made it all the way to the end and came just shy of the win as the season’s runner-up.
Six years later, Boston Rob returned for Survivor 20: Heroes vs. Villains where he came in thirteenth. Then came Survivor 22: Redemption Island which is when Boston Rob finally took home the prize and the title of Sole Survivor winning the show 18 seasons after he first played the game. After his win, he stepped away from the game until Survivor 39: Island of the Idols where he acted as a mentor, and later returned for Survivor 40: Winners at War where his reputation led to an early elimination from the game.
To date, he’s the only player to ever participate in six seasons of Survivor and he’s built a legacy as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Even those who haven’t watched Survivor know Boston Rob as his legacy transcends the game and has landed him roles on two seasons of The Amazing Race as well as the latest season of The Traitors where he again proved himself to be one of the greatest strategists in reality TV.
We’re not sure why Kamilla and Mitch decided to take such cheap shots at Boston Rob, but it definitely isn’t a good look for either.
