Survivor 49 is just starting to heat up after the biggest blindside of the season so far in episode 7. Nate Moore, who was a part of what appeared to be the majority alliance, was voted out on a 6-4 vote. Now, things are about get very interesting in episode 8.
Luckily, CBS has shared a bunch of information about the new episode! It's titled "Hot Grim Reaper," and that is the best episode name since "Episode Several" in Survivor 46. Let's talk about what's coming up!
What time is Survivor on tonight?
Survivor 49 episode 8, "Hot Grim Reaper," airs at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. C on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Like all the episodes of the season minus the two-hour season premiere and (expected) two-hour finale, this episode will be 90 minutes.
You can watch the new episode live on CBS and Paramount+, but remember, you need the Paramount+ Premium subscription to watch live. The Essential subscription does not let you watch the episode live.
And, of course, you have to wait until 8 p.m. PT to watch the new episode if you live on the West Coast of the United States.
Survivor 49 synopsis and preview
CBS shared the synopsis for "Hot Grim Reaper," and it sounds like we have an awesome episode in store.
"After tribal council’s most recent idol play, castaways set out on a 'defensive' idol search. One of the game’s toughest antagonists breaks down and shares a side of vulnerability with their tribemates. Then, the stakes of this week’s individual immunity challenge are raised when group immunity is on the line, on SURVIVOR..."
In the new preview for Survivor 49, we see Savannah Louie take center stage for the first time this season. Savannah was the initial target in episode 7, but the group flipped to Nate for fear that Rizo Velovic would play his immunity idol on Savannah.
There's a lot to break down in that preview! I'm very interested to see if Savannah wins immunity, which would be what Jawan Pitts is referring to his "worst nightmare, Savannah, the savage." She could also find the hidden immunity idol, which would throw out the plan to vote her out.

Episode 8 sneak peek
CBS also shared two sneak peeks at "Hot Grim Reaper" heading into the new episode on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
In the first clip, we see Rizo and Savannah talking about what happened at Tribal Council. We also get to see Savannah scrambling a little bit. She's trying to make quick friends after the blindside. Obviously, I don't think that is going to work, but we also see her opening up and being vulnerable about her position in the game. For the first time, she's on the bottom and she can feel that she's on the bottom. That can't be a good feeling one vote after thinking you had this in the bag.
"Right now, I do have a lot of self doubt because I'm in a place where I know people don't trust me," Savannah said. "So, I'm kind of in self-preservation mode, and it makes me really scared for my game moving forward."
I'm sure everyone has this moment in Survivor. Well, most players have this moment, and it's almost unavoidable. With that said, I think you'd rather find out like Savannah with time to make moves, rather than to find out like Nate and be voted out of the game.
In the second clip, it's also about Savannah! Well, it's kind of about Savannah. It starts with Steven Ramm talking about the group coming together to vote out Nate. He also mentions that he'd love to see Savannah to go next.
And, he's not alone. Jawan tells Steven that he also wants to take out Savannah next. What that is telling me is that Savannah is probably not going anywhere this episode. There's no doubt Savannah and Rizo are in danger, but we're seeing a lot of talk about them, and that's usually a red herring.
"I want to make sure that whatever happens next, I want to make sure Savannah doesn't come for my neck," Jawan said.
Well, I have a feeling that is what is about to happen. If it does, this game could get out of hand in a hurry. Savannah has already lost power in the game once, and she doesn't seem like the type of person to let that happen again.
We'll find out more in Survivor 49 episode 8! I think we're in for a wild one.
