We're officially heading into the merge with 17 players in Survivor 50 episode 6, which feels like the opposite of old-school Survivor. There are some recent rumors that suggest Jeff Probst and co. are bringing back a beloved, old-school tradition for Survivor 50.
It's starting to look like the loved ones' visit could be happening in Survivor 50. If it does, it will be the first time it happens since Survivor: Winners at War.
According to a report from Entertainment Now, Cirie Fields' son, Jared, who was also a reality TV contestant on Big Brother, mentioned in a social media post from June 2025 that he was frustrated that he wasn't picked for the family visit. The post is also available on Reddit with many fans speculating about whether or not it's accurate.

We need the loved ones' visits in Survivor 50
If this is true, Survivor 50 is bringing back the loved ones' visit tradition at the perfect time. In the new era, the loved ones' visits were replaced by letters from home, which are impactful, of course. There's just nothing like seeing family and friends reunite in Survivor, though. Because we know these players so much better than when we have a season with all-new players, a loved ones' visit would be awesome.
We've seen so many iconic moments with the loved ones' visits in the past. Jeff Probst bringing out the full families for Winners are War is something that Survivor fans will always remember. Who can forget Jonny Fairplay lying about his grandma dying to get an advantage in the game?
If the Survivor 50 loved ones' visit does happen, I have a feeling it's not going to be for a while. I don't even know how they could make it happen with this many players left in the game.

Jeff Probst has already said that loved ones' visits could return to Survivor
At the end of Survivor 49, Jeff talked about the family visits and bringing them back. In the new era, the COVID-19 pandemic was obviously a big reason why they stopped bringing additional people out to Fiji. The game is also a lot shorter, so there's less time to fit in such a massive reward.
Here's what Jeff said on the On Fire with Jeff Probst podcast in December 2025, via TV Insider:
Yeah, they could. For real, they could. It’s not that we don’t want to do them. We have been watching what the letters do, and the letters are a different experience, but a lot of the players say that in some ways it’s more powerful because you’re looking at handwritten letters and you’re seeing your dad’s penmanship and you’re like, ‘Oh, my dad took time to write this letter. He doesn’t have time for anything.'”
It's important to remember that Jeff made those comments after Survivor 50 was filmed in the summer of 2025. So, was Jeff hinting at what we would
There's no doubt that bringing back the loved ones' visits for Survivor 50 would be a huge hit with fans. Now, we'll just have to wait and see what happens!
