Since Survivor premiered, it has arguably become the greatest reality show ever. Due to the fact that Jeff Probst's show is so great, the series has been able to enjoy such a stunning level of longevity. Despite all of its success, there is no denying that there has been concern about Survivor's future, with a Hall of Famer like Rob Cesternino arguing that an upcoming season is the most important one in the show's history.
Fortunately for the team behind Survivor and the show's dedicated viewers, recent news has provided a strong indication that the reality series remains relevant. To the surprise of many Survivor fans, one of the most talked-about current reality shows recently filmed a crossover with Jeff Probst's show. Arguably Survivor's first-ever crossover event, the CBS series has teamed with one of the most controversial reality shows ever produced.

Survivor filmed a major crossover event with Beast Games season 2
Over the years, there have been many instances of Survivor players appearing on other series, like game shows and different reality shows. In some cases, it could be claimed that those appearance were a crossover event, like when Survivor players entered the Big Brother house during that show's second season or Cirie Fields competing on a later season. Still, what has recently been revealed about Survivor and Beast Games' having an upcoming crossover event is groundbreaking for Jeff Probst's show.
On Dec. 11, the YouTube channel for Prime Video published the first trailer for Beast Games season 2. At roughly 39 seconds into the trailer, it cut to a man walking out of the jungle and onto a beach. Survivor fans wouldn't have taken long to realize that the man was Jeff Probst.
While Probst's trailer appearance was a big deal, the truly incredible thing is that the video briefly shows Beast Games players taking part in one of Survivor's challenges. The trailer also reveals that Survivor 47's Sue Smey is one of Beast Games season 2's competitors, as she is shown hugging Probst. The final fascinating tidbit that the trailer reveals about Beast Games crossing over with Survivor is that an image combining the two shows' logos is shown onscreen.
When Beast Games season 1 premiered on Prime Video, it was a mammoth success since it reached 50 million viewers in 25 days, according to a Deadline article. However, it could still be argued that Survivor teaming up with Beast Games is a little bit surprising.
As a December 2024 article from The Independent detailed, the filming of Beast Games season 1 became the target of accusations, claiming that players weren't given enough food. Additionally, there were allegations that players received poor medical care and insufficient hygiene products. Those issues and others led to Amazon and Mr. Beast facing lawsuits for "chronic mistreatment." In response to the controversy, Mr Beast released the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024.
“The MrBeast promotional video shoot, which included over 2,000 participants, was unfortunately complicated by the CrowdStrike incident, extreme weather, and other unexpected logistical and communications issues, which we are currently reviewing, but we are grateful that virtually all of those invited to Toronto for our next production have enthusiastically accepted our invitation.”
“We have communicated directly with 97 per cent of the 2,000 people who attended to ask for feedback, have launched a formal review of the process, and have taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience and we are excited to welcome hundreds of men and women to the world’s largest game show in history.”
Beast Games season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Jan. 7, 2026.
