Another individual immunity challenge record goes down in the Survivor 47 finale!

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE SURVIVOR 47 FINALE!

Earlier this season in Survivor 47, Kyle Ostwald set an immunity challenge record for the most individual wins in 10 episodes. Well, another immunity challenge record just fell, but it had nothing to do with Kyle, the challenge beast who was voted out in episode 11.

Heading into the Survivor 47 finale, Kyle had won four individual immunity challenge wins, the most this season. Well, in the final two episodes, Rachel LaMont just tied Kyle’s Survivor 47 mark and tied the overall record for most individual immunity challenge wins by a woman in Survivor history.

Rachel LaMont became the fifth woman in Survivor history to win four immunity challenges in a season

Operation: Italy
“Operation: Italy” – Castaways get the biggest reward of the season with surprise letters from home. Then, balance and dexterity are tested at a crucial immunity challenge to guarantee a spot in the final six, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, December 4 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream on Paramount+*. With her two wins in the finale, Rachel is now the fifth woman with four immunity challenge wins in a season joining Kelly Wiglesworth, Jenna Morasca, Kim Spradlin, and Chrissy Hofbeck.

  • Kelly Wiglesworth, Survivor season 1
  • Jenna Morasca, Survivor: The Amazon (season 6)
  • Kim Spradlin, Survivor: One World (season 24)
  • Chrissy Hofbeck, Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers (season 35)

That’s quite incredible company. Those are some of the best individual competitors in Survivor history. Kelly and Chrissy finished runner-up in their seasons, while Jenna and Kim won. Now, Rachel, the winner of Survivor 47, makes that quite the group! And, it also makes so much sense that they would go that far in the game after winning all those challenges. Honestly, Kelly and Chrissy probably should have won their seasons.

Rachel’s two immunity wins in the finale were the biggest of the season by far. She would have definitely been going home had she not won immunity at the Final Six. She definitely would have been making fire for a shot in the finale if she didn’t win the challenge at the Final Four.

In Survivor 47, there was not one player better at puzzles than Rachel, and of course, that’s basically what this season came down to. It was an incredible display of puzzle-making (or puzzle-solving?) acumen. But, it wasn’t only that. There was a lot of skill displayed by Rachel throughout the season in challenges, and I think that carried over into her strategic game, too.

Eventually, I do think that we will see a woman win five immunity challenges in a season of Survivor. A few men have accomplished the feat over 47 seasons, but I’m sure this record will fall sooner than later.
