We're eight seasons into the new era of Survivor, and with each new winner crowned, it's very clear that, even with the new formatting, no two seasons of Survivor can ever be the same. Because of that, we have a huge group of fans who all have different thoughts and opinions on players, gameplay, productions, and everything else in the Survivor universe.
Welcome to the ultimate guide of Survivor's new era seasons and what they say about their fans!

Survivor 41
A New Era Begins
Season 41 kicked off the new era in a blaze of glory. The players were thrown into an experimental version of the game that was now faster-paced, filled with more unknown twists than ever before, all while adjusting to a new world outside of the game due to the updated pandemic protocol. It was a hit-or-miss season that fans either loved or have completely forgotten about.
What it says about you: You thrive by going all in at the start of something new, even if it means possibly flying too close to the sun. You're willing to take the risk because the reward is worth it, in your eyes.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Game Changes (season 34)
- Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers (season 35)
- Survivor: Island of the Idols (season 39)

Survivor 42
A Second Chance Beginning
While technically a copy & paste production of Survivor 41, this season's cast and their emphasis on social relationships moved the narrative away from what was new about the game and embraced the core values of the pre-new era seasons, making it feel less overwhelming for players and viewers alike.
What it says about you: You're adaptable and willing to switch gears as needed to change direction based on both your own wants and needs as well as those of others. You have a way of making new territory feel like home and keeping calm in the face of the unknown.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Cagayan (season 28)
- Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X (season 33)
- Survivor: David vs. Goliath (season 37)

Survivor 43
All Talk, No Action
One of the most controversial seasons of the new era, Survivor 43 was driven by strong characters who didn't always rely on sound strategy to make decisions. Despite a social-focused group of castaways, their moves often felt directionless, with strategic gameplay mostly lacking a solid and sensical foundation.
What it says about you: You take people at their word and put a huge amount of trust in the relationships you've built. Even if people's endeavors don't always match your values, you believe in heart, loyalty, and always finding a way forward together.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Marquesas (season 4)
- Survivor: Thailand (season 5)
- Survivor: Nicaragua (season 21)

Survivor 44
Chaotically Compelling
Season 44 was the first of the new era to start feeling like the Survivor we all know and love. Even with a ridiculous amount of advantages and some frenzied gameplay, the bold personalities of the cast combined with big moves made and emotional storytelling moments balanced out the season to feel cohesive rather than the chaotic show it could have been.
What it says about you: You are always moving—whether figuratively or literally—and your high-energy approach to life is a big part of who you are. You're the person others turn to when they're stuck in a rut or want advice on figuring out their next chapter in life.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Tocantins (season 18)
- Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs. Favorites (season 26)
- Survivor: Edge of Extinction (season 38)

Survivor 45
Slow Burn Strategy
The first season to expand into 90-minute episodes, Survivor 45 was able to explore more nuanced gameplay that led to a satisfying ending, as viewers were given the opportunity to really see the winner's entire game and not just snippets. With a huge focus on subtle strategy and key alliances, viewers were engaged and on their toes until the very end.
What it says about you: You're a planner who likes to take the time to craft a thought out method in all areas of your life. While you're not afraid to take chances, you have a mindset that allows you to quickly calculate if a risk is worth it before fully committing.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: China (season 15)
- Survivor: South Pacific (season 23)
- Survivor: San Juan del Sur (season 29)

Survivor 46
Memorably Messy
Probably the most unpredictable season of the new era so far, Survivor 46 was filled with dramatic outbursts, confusing Tribal Councils, and shifting alliances. But it was never off-putting as the raw emotions expressed by many players rounded out the drama to be compelling rather than frenzied.
What it says about you: You live for the drama, but only if you're not the one involved in it. While starting chaos is not something you'd ever do, you love absorbing the messy lives of others, whether through celebrity gossip, reality TV, or in casual conversation with friends.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Fiji (season 14)
- Survivor: Gabon (season 17)
- Survivor: Worlds Apart (season 30)

Survivor 47
Back to Basics
With advantages and twists honed in, season 47 allowed strategy and social connections to step back into the spotlight. This season felt like a return to the core gameplay of outwit, outplay, and outlast that Survivor was built on, as the big moves were dynamically and intentionally made by players who were willing to build relationships only to betray if it meant getting further in the game.
What it says about you: You are an OG fan. No matter the subject, you've been on the bandwagon since day one and can impress everyone with your knowledge and wit. It's not because of a need to be flashy, though, but rather a genuine love for and connection you feel to your fandom.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Pearl Islands (season 7)
- Survivor: Panama - Exile Island (season 12)
- Survivor: Winners at War (season 40)

Survivor 48
A Strategic Renaissance
Season 48 was a huge turning point in the new era. With a standout cast who focused on alliance-driven strategy, long-term planning ultimately was the way to play. The strong connections built were genuine, but were also used as emotional leverage to pit people against their allies in part of a larger strategic goal.
What it says about you: You overthink everything—in the best way possible. Every decision you make has a distinct purpose because you've considered what the path ahead of you could look like based on the path you've already walked before you take a single step.
Other seasons you would love:
- Survivor: Cook Islands (season 13)
- Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites (season 16)
