Surviving Tribal

Which castaways are at risk (and who's in a good spot) after Survivor 51 episode 3?

Survivor 51 has been anything but predictable or boring through the first three episodes. The latest episode, "What I'm Smellin' is Stinky," was pure chaos, and it was incredible.

Between the immunity challenge on episode two, and the reward/immunity challenge on episode three, the Savu tribe lost three members. First, Ana Sani was blindsided at Tribal Council. Then, Rob Antonson took himself out of the game. He tried to orchestrate getting himself voted out in episode two but failed badly. He then exaggerated an injury, was cleared by the medical team, but pulled himself with a seemingly fabricated fear of infection.

Then, each tribe sent a member to the other tribe to gather information. No one on the Savu tribe volunteered, so they drew for it, and Carter Krull got the honor. On the trip, Carter got a clue to an advantage, which he fumbled badly, and had the option of staying with the other tribe. He didn't intend to, but he missed his boat and was stuck with the Toka tribe.

So there has already been some interaction between tribes, which should lead to an interesting tribe swap during episode four, when the two tribes seemingly become three. Still, it all depends on how the tribes are divided. Someone who might have been completely safe before could find themselves in the minority after the swap.

Christian Chavez

It feels like Cristian has the best part of his game ahead of him. He doesn't have any enemies on Savu, and he seems to fit in socially. The biggest red flag with him is that he hasn't had very many confessionals at all. This doesn't mean anything right now, but generally, people who impact the game get more screen time that Cristian has seen so far. Still, unless something goes sideways, it doesn't feel like he will be in danger in episode four.

Sharonda Cox

Sharonda is playing a solid game thus far, and she has some extra protection from the secret Helicoptor Alliance, formed on day one, in those first minutes when Jeff stranded all 21 players on the beach together to start the season. Out of the five original members, Aaliyah Puglia was voted out, but Sharonda, Devin Way, Angelica "Jelly" Loblack, and Ori Jean-Charles were not. However the swap falls out, Sharonda has a good chance to have an ally on her tribe. Between her solid social game and her low-key strategic game, she should fear the swap.

Carter Krull

Carter is in a weird spot. He didn't mean to abandon his tribe, and he lost his advantage when he left his bag unattended for Toka members to rifle through. Who knows how his former Savu tribe mates might feel about him jumping over to Toka, even if he didn't mean to. However, Rob slipped Carter his immunity idol on his way out, so Carter has that protection if things go awry for him after the swap. He did pick a side when Toka voted out Patt Canaday, but we'll see if it was the right side.

Survivor 51 contestant Danny “Kilby” Kilby Season 51 is set to premiere Wednesday, Sept. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Photo: Robert Voets/CBS ©2026 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved. | Robert Voets/CBS

Danny Kilby

Players who were on the block before a swap have a good chance of being in danger after a tribe reshuffle. Kilby escaped his elimination when Carter and Lewis Kelly swung the vote to take out Patt, but Devin and his coterie have connections. Devin was the member of Toka to visit Savu, and he told everyone not to trust Kilby. The swap could hurt Kilby if he doesn't have the right people around him.

Devin Way

Devin is playing hard. His strategy has been to play open and honest and to weaponize those things. He's felt like he's been running things. That being said, both times Toka went to Tribal Council, he was on the wrong side of the vote. He even mentioned that he might have to change his strategy if the vote didn't go his way. He is extremely charming, so he might be able to talk his way out of trouble if the numbers go against him during the swap. His aggressive play could hurt him, though, because everyone can see how hard he is playing. He might need help from the Helicoptor Alliance if he's to survive another Tribal Council.

Eric Macksoud

Like Kilby, he's been a target and survived. It will be interesting to see if he learned his lesson about talking too much around camp. He obviously has a big personality, but his tribe mates found him annoying. If he does the same thing around new people after the swap, some of his old tribe mates might be willing to go along and take him out.

Often, the first person voted out after a swap is unexpected, and this is the season for the unexpected. These votes could come down to bad luck. If a player is in the minority on their new tribe, it could just be an easy vote. It could also be someone who was in an alliance before, but former tribe mates with an axe to grind could flip on them.

With Survivor 51, expect the unexpected.
