Survivor is back and ready for another wild ride in episode 8, and after another blindside at the tribal council in the last episode, back at the Beka beach, it was all about trying to figure out what happened as Sol reveals to Rachel that he is the one who gave her the advantage that ended up saving her from being voted out.
As a new day dawns, the Survivor players learn that they are going to be taking part in the Survivor Auction! In order to participate in the auction, the players must hunt down tubes of cash hidden in the jungle.
It was a mad dash into the jungle looking for bamboo tubes with varying amounts of money in them. And while some people seemed to struggle to find money to spend on the auction, others seemed to be able to find them all. Andy struggles with this task, having found zero tubes, even as viewers watch him walk passed multiple tubes throughout the hunt. Whereas Sierra proves to be the ultimate huntress banking the most cash of the group.
The Survivor Auction
As the Survivor players arrive for their Survivor 47 Auction, Jeff reveals the board featuring how much money each player found. In the lead is Sierra with an impressive $1,060 in hand to play with. And her closest competition is Gabe with $660. At the other end of the spectrum we have Andy with $0 and then Caroline with $280.
As Jeff points out though, the good news for Andy is that his vote is safe, as only the player with the most money at the end of the Survivor Auction will lose their vote.
For this auction, there are 15 items that have been prepared for people to bid on. However, only the first five are guaranteed. After a random draw, Jeff knows how many items will be auctioned off, but no one else does.
The first item is $60 to Sol and it is a bowl of chips and a glass of soda. This drops Sol to $540. Item two is a bowl of mac and cheese for $640 to Teeny, which drops her to $0. Item number three is a mystery item and it goes for $800 to Sierra and it turns out to be a margarita, chips, salsa, and guacamole. This drops Sierra to $260.
For the fourth item, we once again have a covered item. Kyle gets it for $560 and ends up with a tray of buffalo chicken wings with ranch, celery, and carrots. This leaves him with just $20. For the fifth guaranteed item, we once again get a covered item with Gabe bidding all of his money ($660) and winning a coconut filled with cold water.
The sixth item goes to Sol for $540 and he wins an apple pie with whipped cream and an extra $60 back, leaving him with $60. Item number seven goes to Rachel for $500 and it is a burger with fries and a beer. While Jeff goes off to get the eighth item in the auction, Rachel sits eating her plate of food when she notices a piece of paper in her fries.
So what was that piece of paper? We won't know right away as Genevieve gets the eighth item which is a plate of sweet treats for all $400 of the money she has in hand. With a ninth item in the auction, there is a tray of breakfast foods with a bid of $200 for players to compete for the prize. Sue, Sam, Sierra, and Caroline have to compete for the tray of breakfast. The first person who eats two full grubs gets the breakfast food after handing over their $200. And almost immediately, Sam wins the tray.
Item 10 goes to Sue, which is a giant burrito. Caroline gets item 11, which is fish eyes, and more cash ($60). Item 12 is for Sierra, and it is a peanut butter and chocolate tray that is shared between her, Gabe, and Caroline.
After 12 items, there are no more items left in the auction. And Sam ends up being the one with the most money and losing his vote.
Back at the Beka beach, Rachel learns what her advantage is. And it turns out that there is a hidden immunity idol sewn into the corner of the tarp.
Discussions back at Beka reveal that players want to take out the former Tuku players. But Genevieve wants to take out a Gata player, specifically Rachel.
The Immunity Challenge
The immunity challenge has the players holding a bucket weighing 25 percent of their pre-game body weight with a handle that they have to pull back towards themselves attached to a rope. The last man and the last woman left standing without breaking their tile will both win immunity.
The first person to struggle is Sam and he is the first person out, with Genevieve following immediately behind him. Teeny is the next out within the first minute of the challenge. Sierra is the next player out and Gabe follows quickly behind her. Caroline is the next person out, leaving two women in the competition. Sol is out next. Rachel is out and Sue wins the individual immunity. This leaves Andy versus Kyle for the final immunity. In the end, Kyle wins his third individual immunity after Andy struggles to reel his bucket back in.
With both Kyle and Sue safe from the vote, everyone else is on the chopping block. And while there are a few names being thrown around, one of them is Gabe. Then we have Andy who is trying to flip the script and he wants to take out either Sierra or Sam. Specifically, it sounds like Sierra is the name on the chopping block. But Teeny wants it to be Sam. Then again Genevieve wants Rachel out.
Tribal Council
At the tribal council, it feels like everyone is looking forward, which means pointing out that there is only one winner in the end. But it also sounds like people have an idea of what they are doing to move forward in the game.
Andy admits that he has a name in mind, even as he was one of the names voted for at the last tribal council. But the entire tribe admits that they don't feel comfortable with what is going to happen, as everyone raises their hand when Jeff asks who is concerned over what will happen with the vote.
So who is going to be the eighth player voted out on Survivor 47? And considering Rachel decided to play her shot in the dark, it seems like she thinks it will be her. Unfortunately for her, she is not safe.
Sierra is the eighth player voted out of Survivor 47
With votes going toward Sierra, Sam, and Gabe, this tribal council leaves it up in the air. But in the end, it was a battle between Sierra and Sam, with a four-way tie. This leads to a revote where Sam and Rachel do not get a chance to vote because they didn't get to vote the first time, but Sierra does get to vote again.
As her name is called as the eighth player voted out, Sierra tells the tribe that if she is the biggest threat then she is honored. As her torch is snuffed out, she asks for a hug from Jeff. Of course, Sam also takes the time to thank the tribe for keeping him.
Once again, it was a wild ride at tribal and while we may not be surprised to see Sierra leaving, we are surprised by how everything played out. But what did you think?
