Sarah Lacina made it to the jury on Survivor: Cagayan, but how might she approach her second try with the other Game Changers?

Even Sarah Lacina has vaguely admitted that she may not qualify as the most obvious choice for a season literally called Survivor: Game Changers. Then again, based on sheer placement only, she has a slightly better case than someone like Jeff Varner, who has never made the jury. Numbers, though, don’t always tell the whole story, and it’s time to take a look at Sarah’s previous effort in Survivor and attempt to prognosticate how her second game might turn out.

As we mentioned, Sarah did in fact make the jury in Survivor: Cagayan. If you really care that much about placement, she was the first person on the jury and finished in 11th place. However, that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have some strengths.

First off, Sarah actually had some great perceptive moments. She figured out that Tony was lying about his profession, as he’d said he was a construction worker. (He’s actually a cop, hence the formation of the Cops-R-Us alliance. Unfortunately, it was not as successful as Stealth-R-Us, even with Tony’s Spy Shack shenanigans.) That shows a pretty decent read of people in general.

However, she didn’t read the situation correctly at the merge. She had ended up as the person in the middle, but assumed that that status made her safe and came off as overconfident. That didn’t sit well with people like Kass, and one thing led to another, and then Sarah was on the jury.

She did end up voting for Tony to win, though, and that brings us to our next point. Looking at the cast list, they’re the only two Cagayan returnees. However, they will start out on opposite tribes, and, as we’ve noted in the past, Tony’s kind of a big target anyway, so he’s out.

Sarah didn’t offer much in the way of guidance as to her potential alliancemates either in her cast video:

However, she does sound like she’s perhaps figured out some of her mistakes from the last time around and knows to learn from the winners like Sandra and J.T. Additionally, it seems like she’ll try to avoid being star-struck by all of the other players — a good formula.

We do know that Sarah will start out on the Nuku tribe, alongside a winner in J.T., two four-time players in Cirie and Ozzy, and more. Will she try to play with the bigger names? Somehow, we have the sense that that’s not the case.

If you don’t like possible spoilers, you may want to skip down.

According to rumored spoilers, Sarah makes the final three this time around alongside Brad and Troyzan, or maybe alongside Brad and somebody else. Now, she does actually start on Nuku with Brad, so it makes sense that she would bond with another physical player who seems less likely to betray her than Tony. Or they could be the last members standing of their respective alliances. We’ve previously speculated that Sarah could end up having a breakout season based on the spoilers, and with her cast video in mind, it seems more likely than before.

Congratulations, you’ve made it past the spoilers!

Anyway, Sarah showed a fairly decent game in Cagayan, with only one major mistake that cost her her game. It’s entirely possible that she could go further this time. Additionally, both based on the spoilers and her own words, it seems like she’ll make alliances with the quote-unquote “lesser” players of the game, ones we as fans may not see as true game changers.

She should probably avoid the swing vote situation, though. Just on principle.
