Survivor 2018: History made

Much like the previous year, Survivor in 2018 is about the flashy moves and doing something never seen in the show’s history. The past year brought us Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers and Ghost Island, starting out in season 35 with the first look at three tribes swapping into three tribes before the merge and ending with a vote that was never seen before then.

By keeping his Hidden Immunity Idol secret, Ben Driebergen was able to create an alliance to take out the power held by Chrissy and Ryan while also protecting himself against his own alliance set to betray him. As Lauren gave away her Immunity shell to Dr. Mike, after a major debate with whispers and secrets, Ben drew out the idol and used it on himself to negate all but his vote, creating the first 1-0 vote in the show’s history.

In season 36, Ghost Island sought to go one step further. Nobody could touch either Domenick or Wendell for most of the season, and after Chris Noble was dispatched it seemed like anybody who opposed them was subsequently uncovered and immediately voted out.

This played all the way through to the Final Tribal Council, where the jury was split between the two on who should be the winner. It created the very first tie vote scenario for a winner, forcing third place Laurel to quell her overwhelming emotions and decide for herself who should win the million dollars as the 11th juror.
