Jeff Probst hits up the CBS red carpet at the Television Critic Awards to answer a few questions about our favorite reality competition, Survivor.

If you can believe it, there are still 56 days until the debut of Survivor Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers. It’s been yet another long offseason, and the wait until the September 27 debut of Survivor Season 35 has been a long and arduous one. Still, you can count on Jeff Probst to still show enthusiasm for his job whenever asked about the show.

Last night, CBS hosted their Television Critics Association red carpet event, as well as hosting a Facebook Live video stream covering all the festivities. CBS took the opportunity to promote their network stars of popular and upcoming shows, while also catching up with reality hosts such as The Amazing Race’s Phil Keoghan and Jeff Probst

The Jeff Probst segment begins about the 52:40 segment on the Facebook Live video below, answering a few simple questions about Survivor Season 35 and other oft-repeated inquiries that he’s likely heard over the years. When asked about the length of the show, Probst replied, “You know; it’s hard to get any job. To have one that lasts this long, and is this fulfilling, is fantastic.

Survivor’s been a nice, long run, and it’s not going to stop with this season. We’ve got another good one.”

More from Jeff Probst

In addition to offering up travel tips (pack less and buy some clothes if you run out) and his most-asked question (“Is it real?”), an interesting question came up about the CBS family; “Who do you think would be the best on Survivor?”

I have never been so thrown off by an offhanded answer to a hypothetical question that will likely never happen, but Jeff Probst answers with Joe Mantegna (David Rossi from Criminal Minds, Fat Tony from The Simpsons). “He’s nice enough that you want to keep him around; he’s cunning enough that he’ll cut your throat.”

It goes to show you just how much Jeff Probst probably thinks about Survivor; he answered that question in about half a second. It got us thinking; which celebrity do you think would do well on the show?
