Survivor season 35 cast: Patrick Bolton fires up the burners
Once he gets revving to go, Patrick Bolton looks to turn up the heat in Survivor season 35. That is, if he doesn’t get too burnt by the sun, himself.
There are few things I would rather accomplish in life over competing on a show like Survivor. However, there are quite a number of factors that will prevent me from playing. Besides my rotund shape and Canadian citizenship, the biggest fear is for my melanoma risk. I burn up even in cloud cover without heavy sunscreen and staying in the shade. If anything, Patrick Bolton has taken one such worry off the table.
The pale, tall redhead from Lanett, AL is already rocking a pretty heavy sunburn, and that’s just from his official cast introduction video. He hasn’t even started playing yet! The Hustler Tribe castaway is an owner of a moving company named Bolt Movers, boiling down Jeff Probst’s creative process in narrowing down a show’s theme to the basic process of elimination.
Despite his calm, cool, deep-voiced presence and straightforward demeanor, you can tell there’s a bit of a wild side to Patrick. Most of his introduction video has him chasing down a crab on the beach, using the tide against it and finally picking it up near the end in triumphant victory. He acts like if Jay Starrett from Millennials vs. Gen X has a desk job during the day.
It will be interesting to see how well he socialized with fellow Hustlers. In his CBS bio, Patrick Bolton mentions his “primary motivation is to win a million dollars!” He even sees the game itself as “a business trip,” not unlike the wild (but successful) Brian Heidik. It’s a winning strategy in the short term, but it required nothing short of disassociative behavior on the Thailand winner’s behalf to get there. It’s not the kind of mentality one should clamor to embody!

Others pick up on Patrick’s diehard determination for the money in his Hollywood Reporter write-up. He gives off a bad impression to roughly half the cast, while the other half likes his outwardly goofy personality. Coming to compete in challenges, lie to others and always look after his own back for an unexpected knife, Patrick looks to be someone who guns forward with little regard for his perception in the game.
One thing that may be a storyline to look out for is a hidden partner. Ali Elliott, in her profile, mentions she noticed Patrick Bolton as someone who went to her alma mater at Auburn University. Patrick hasn’t made this information publicly available yet, meaning he is either keeping it in his back pocket or truly doesn’t remember Ali that much.

This can go one of two ways. Having a built-in partner in Survivor on Day -2 is a huge leg up, especially when it comes to two players on a beginning tribe of six. All either player needs to do is find one player each to bring into a majority fold in order to secure numbers. Having to worry about only 16 players instead of 17 is a major advantage early.
However, say Patrick doesn’t remember Ali. She knows the exact kind of person he is, mentioning “he’s a goofy kind of guy.” If she could play up how annoying he is to others, she could poison the well against him early, especially if he’s deemed a threat to her.

Patrick Bolton (of House Bolton) is more focused on playing Survivor guns blazing, regardless of built-in alliances or partnerships. He’s ready either to go hard on the social, strategic and challenge game out the game and make friends or alienate others with his quirky personality and off-putting behavior. Who knows if his game will end in a quick burnout or a slow fade away.
