Survivor ratings: Season 35 episode 6 dips against World Series Game 7
As one of the most remarkable Fall Classics handed the World Series Championship to the Houston Astros, Survivor season 35 did its best.
Last week, the Survivor gods held strong against Game 2 of the World Series, despite one hell of a performance from both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros. It was, at the time, one of the most back-and-forth, offense-heavy games in playoff history, only to be outdone by the 13-12 Astros victory in Game 5. Game 7 of a seven-game series always yields a high viewership, but nothing could come close to its 8.2 rating and 29 share in the key demo, nor touch its 28.24 million viewers.
With it starting at 8 p.m. ET, Survivor season 35 episode 6 of Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, the show’s ratings were going to dip. The Wednesday night final results show that it wasn’t too bad a dip, though, with 7.69 million people tuning in. While last week saw the show weather off baseball well, the ratings and share dipped to 1.6/6 against some good old fashioned baseball.
If you’re like Russell Hantz, you may have had to enjoy some picture-in-picture viewing to watch both programs at once. As he mentioned while talking Boston Rob during Heroes vs. Villains, “It’s the Houston Astros, baby!” Considering it’s the team’s first World Series win in franchise history, I guess we’ll let it slide if he decided just to watch baseball history instead.
The real question for Survivor season 35 ratings is how the merge will do. With only one-hour episodes all season, will viewership and ratings hold stronger than we’ve seen at the merge recently? Last year during Game Changers’ “There’s a New Sheriff in Town,” viewership dipped by close to half a million versus the pre-merge episode. It’s possible the two-hour episode retained viewers at a slower rate than usual.
We’ll just have to find out when the Survivor season 35 merge episode, “Get to Gettin’,” airs on November 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
