One of Survivor’s casting producers is looking for Survivor teenagers “for a special project” that sounds very much like a specific tribe’s designations.

When casting for a reality competition, several factors come into play. Especially when it comes to themes of seasons like they have on Survivor, players applying (or recruited) might be picked based on specific factors such as age, gender or even race. Ghost Island will officially sport the youngest cast in the show’s history, but we could see an even younger cast in a year’s time.

Survivor casting producer Jodi Wincheski has sent a call out for “teen Survivor fans” to help her with “a special project.” Her only requirements are that players must be 17-19 years old; effectively, only adult teenagers are allowed. She’s not just making a private plea among friends, family and fellow casting agents on Facebook; she’s even approved to let the show’s subreddit aware that she’s actively looking for teenagers to send in the kinds of tapes that casting usually gets.

A “special project” could mean literally anything when it comes to this show, but numerous clues are hinting that it could be for casting a future player. The fact that there are “restrictions” for 17-year-olds, they need “people who’d be 18-19 during June of this year,” and that you must be a US citizen points to a casting stunt.

Update: Martin Holmes has followed up, insisting that casting is, in fact, looking for someone who is 18. Plus, season 37 is finalizing their cast soon! That’s neat.

As of May 31, 2018, Survivor will have been airing episodes for 18 years. There is a very distinct possibility that this “special project” includes putting a player on that is as old as the show itself, throwing out 19 years of age as a distraction. It’s also possible that we could see an expansion of the Millennials vs. Gen X formula, shifting towards Survivor: Battle of the Generations by having a tribe filled with 18 and 19-year-old Gen Z-ers.

Whatever it is, it seems like a person in casting is supremely interested in people under 20 for some reason. Survivor season 38 was previously thought to have included returnee players (which is still possible), so who knows what this special project ends up being. The possibilities are endless, but so are the hypotheticals!
