From what we can tell in exit interviews, Chelsea and Desiree were very close on the island. You can see this best shine in the brief moments we saw Immunity winner Chelsea on the last episode, including when Kellyn came to Desiree and asked about the plot against her. Chelsea was lying right to her face, yet she stuck to her best friend in the game and voted against Michael.
Even though it was a vote against Michael, it solidified the notion that there was a plot to overthrow the powers that be in Naviti, presenting Chelsea with a hard position. She now has few allies in the game, especially seeing she was the only Naviti player in the earlier scheme for the goats to take out the power players.

In my mind, Chelsea has to go on a crazy Mike Holloway-esque run with Immunity wins and idols for her to beast her way to the finish line. We haven’t seen her strategize much beyond her work with Kellyn and Domenick, and seeing that she just made a failed move against them, her back is really against the wall now.
