Sometimes, the reminder of who you came to play Survivor Ghost Island for is the pickup you need. The Loved Ones visit will definitely help these players.
The further we go into Survivor Ghost Island, the more focused it becomes on a select number of individuals. Domenick, Wendell, Laurel, Donathan and Kellyn have been the biggest names and faces of the season, yet everyone will have the opportunity to have a very human, humble moment in the Fijian sun.
Survivor Ghost Island episode 12 promo videos are now up on the SurvivorCBS YouTube channel, with the meatier preview being the sneak peek of the Reward Challenge. At first, players thought they were competing just for ribs, chicken, burgers, pastries and ice cream, with the traversal of a log and a narrow wooden beam to collect a sandbag being closed out with a simple sandbag toss.
Of course, on Day 31, a group of superfans knew that there was much more at stake, as Jeff Probst revealed to them that their loved ones were awaiting them just around the corner. Usually, there’s a specific order in which the players get to see their family members, but all decorum was thrown out the window as Wendell Jr. got the chance to hug Wendell Sr.
Considering that we already saw the Yanuya tribe sing “Happy Birthday” to Wendell’s girlfriend, it’s a bit odd to see Wendell’s dad making the trip over. I sincerely thought they were telegraphing her appearance down the line; instead, it telegraphed that he would find the comfort and solace of family at this point in the game.

The commercial promo for Survivor Ghost Island episode 12 is decidedly short, but it does offer brief glimpses of other loved ones on the island. Sea Bass’ sister or mom, Angela’s daughter, Domenick’s wife; you get a tease of how much these players appreciate their family dropping everything to come on the show.

Though it’s a cheap, oft-repeated gimmick of Survivor, the Loved Ones challenge is an easy way to get viewers emotionally involved in places you don’t expect. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity for lesser-seen players to get a bit of attention that they’ve been missing out on so far this season.
