One of the biggest Ghost Island teasers was Lauren Rimmer’s immunity shell idol being burnt by Dr. Mike. Will it appear in the Survivor Ghost Island finale?

In preparation for the Survivor Ghost Island finale this week, I’ve been looking at past finale episodes and seeing how the winner’s story came to unfold. Unfortunately, my research for Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was decidedly short, as it was cut drastically short in order to tease the current season we’re watching now.

One of the few players not in the finale episode to speak during the “reunion” “special” was Lauren Rimmer, but not for the greatest of reasons. Probst prodded her about whether or not she regretted handing Dr. Mike part of her Immunity Idol, to her blunt response of “yes” and asking for it back. He said he couldn’t give it to her, pivoting to one of James Clement’s idols from China.

After the commercial break, the world saw their first teaser for Survivor Ghost Island, showing the cursed items from past seasons and asking if the players can reverse the curse. So far, the players are 1 for 5 in reversing curses, but perhaps not all items have been presented to the players.

The items shown in the preview were the Legacy Advantage Sarah Lacina stole from Sierra Dawn Thomas, Erik Erik Reichenbach’s Immunity Necklace from Micronesia, James Clement’s idols from China, Jay Starrett’s fake idol from Millennials vs. Gen X, the F—ing Stick from Micronesia and Lauren Rimmer’s Immunity Shell from last season. The only one to not appear so far in Ghost Island? Rimmer’s idol.

With just two more idol spots left in the game, there are few options for the idol to re-emerge in the game (as an idol or otherwise). With three days and three votes, it is increasingly unlikely that a player will be sent to Ghost Island after an Immunity Challenge and before a Tribal Council vote. Though I suspect a trip to the island will come, perhaps it will be an in-and-out reward.

One possibility I could see happen is that Lauren’s shell’s powers have changed in Ghost Island, now working as a token to keep another player safe. However, it would be given to the winner of the Final Four Immunity Challenge, thus presenting the expected Final Four fire-making challenge we’ve come to expect.

If so, that would be perhaps the lamest excuse to tie in one of the biggest mistakes in recent Survivor history. By that effect, it would be completely fitting for recent history, as well.
