Survivor: David vs. Goliath announced for season 37
Those who are underappreciated underdogs will go up against the perceived titans of industry in Survivor: David vs. Goliath, coming in Fall 2018.
We just witnessed history on May 23. Survivor Ghost Island came and went, providing a very predictable route to the end where both Domenick and Wendell controlled the game from start to finish. There was a reason why it was so predictable; both of them had an equal shot of winning heading into the Final Tribal Council, and they even tied 5-5!
It caused Laurel Johnson, the zero-votes-receiving third-place player, to immediately enter the voting booth to serve as the 11th member of the jury and cast a vote for Wendell, giving him the win as the 35th person to become the Sole Survivor and an instant winner of a million dollars.
For the entirety of the season, it was two alpha males commanding the season and the direction of the vote, both unable to take the other out. It was like Goliath vs. Goliath, and every single player that stood in their way was like a David who just couldn’t do anything to take one of them down.
CBS aims to reverse that curse by revealing season 37 as Survivor: David vs. Goliath, pitting 10 players who are underdogs against 10 players who have excelled in their field. Among the confirmed players include John Hennigan (aka “John Morrison,” professional wrestler) and nine other goliaths such as Stanford graduate Angelina and the forcefully forward Natalie.
They’ll be facing off against Nick, Gabby and Christian as Davids, each of them filling the role of a David Wright-type for Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Whether they’re awkward, unprepared for the elements or just overlooked as weak nerds, each fits the role of “player you’ll want to cheer for.”
