Survivor Ghost Island will, once again, bring someone to the Ghost Island location to pay off the twist, Jeff Probst said in an interview.
When the season began, I had modest hopes for Survivor Ghost Island. The idea of the show paying homage to its past mistakes and the players who made them was more than enough of a fun idea to me to forgive the oncoming multitude of twists. However, with a decidedly old-school mentality to the season, gameplay has been fairly linear and predictable.
That isn’t going to stop host and showrunner Jeff Probst from trying to hype up his own show, though, as he and fellow executive producer Mark Burnett sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the Survivor Ghost Island finale airing later tonight.
Among the myriad of fascinating topics about the evolution of the show from its past, present and future states, EW asked about any remaining big twists or special moments coming in the finale tonight. Probst, ever the hype man, revealed, “We had one last thing we needed in the final episode to really pay off Ghost Island all the way through, and we have that, so there’s still a big decision and a tremendous finale.”
Whatever could that mean? It sounds way more grandiose than Lauren Rimmer’s immunity shell piece that she gave to Dr. Mike in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers (that he subsequently threw in the fire at Tribal Council). Even though that was teased as early as last season’s reunion, it’s the only part of the show that was teased in the preview that hasn’t been on Ghost Island yet.
