Once told to get a real job by Colton Cumbie after sharing his occupation as a comedian, Survivor’s Bill Posley will be taping a comedy special in August.
Survivor One World may be one of the worst seasons on the show in correlation to how great its winner was. The lowlight of the season was Colton Cumbie; a meticulously aggravating crybaby who was upset whenever things didn’t go his way (they often did).
His attack on Bill Posley, using coded verbiage to describe him such as “ghetto trash,” represented Survivor at its lowest; a strategic, social competition devolving into an ignorant person walking over someone already on the way out. Colton topped it off by saying Bill was a struggling comedian and that he needed to get a “real job.”
Funny thing about that; Bill Posley has made comedy his real job over the past half-decade, culminating in what will be a taped recording of his recent comedic one-man show “The Day I Became Black.” As noted in a press release, those in Los Angeles on August 25 can check out the special as it’s being taped at the LA Theater Center, with tickets available online for just $5.
Though the title insists on a harsher, more serious tone, from clips shared above, it seems to be Bill’s comedic vision on his experience as a child of a black father and a white mother, citing his view through a Black and biracial lens. He also seems to draw upon his experience serving in the US military.
About a year ago, we had highlighted BIll Posley’s increasing stature in the world of comedy when he was presented the “New Faces of Comedy” award by Just For Laughs. The organization is one of the most prolific in the comedy world, and it’s clear that they picked a deserving recipient of the title.
