Former players and a member of the Survivor press are competing in Domenick Abbate’s organized fantasy football league, named Rotten Coconutz.

One idea that is shared among sports and reality television, surprisingly, is the fantasy aspect. Perhaps the idea of a produced show where the creators know what happens at the end doesn’t quite equate with the on-the-fly results that sports create, but people have been drafting members of reality show casts like Survivor even within television writing circles.

But what happens when Survivor players are the ones playing fantasy sports? You have Domenick Abbate’s inaugural players-only (and Survivor press member Dalton Ross) fantasy football league, lovingly titled the 2018 Rotten Coconutz Fantasy Football League. Players’ names, divisions and draft order were drawn out of vases by Dom’s children, represented by paper and playing cards.

The Survivor players involved in this fantasy football league are Cambodia and Game Changers winners Jeremy Collins and Sarah Lacina, Ghost Island’s Kellyn Bechtold and Domenick Abbate, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers’ Ben Driebergen, Chrissy Hofbeck and Joe Mena, Millennials vs. Gen X’s Chris Hammons and Bret LaBelle, Dalton Ross, Worlds Apart’s Rodney Lavoie Jr. and The Amazon and All-Stars’ Rob Cesternino.

You can see the live position draft of the Survivor players fantasy football league below. Effectively, Jeremy will draft first in round one, Chris will draft last and draft first in round two in a basic snake draft formula, taking two spots at once.

Jeremy, Chrissy and Rob are in the Spades division and Kellyn, Rodney and Joe are in the Clubs division in the East, while Dalton, Sarah and Ben are in the Hearts division and Domenick, Bret and Chris are in the Diamonds division in the West.

Previously, players have publicly made Super Bowl bets, including Jeremy Collins reigning victorious over Malcolm Freberg. Players were also chatting a lot during the 2017 Super Bowl, clearly showing the interest Survivor casts have for games on the gridiron, as well.
