Just give us the opportunity to discuss his game in Survivor: David vs. Goliath before rushing off to make your votes for Christian Hubicki’s possible return.

Look, you and I both know how this question is going to go. We’ve asked this question of everyone from Survivor: David vs. Goliath so far, including Natalie Cole and Alec Merlino. However, one name I’ve kept see popping up regardless of who we talk about is Christian Hubicki; the robotics scientist that took the fandom by storm.

He quite possibly lost the game almost immediately with his opening challenge performance, absolutely demolishing the Goliaths by solving a slide puzzle in under five seconds and declaring that he made a slide puzzle-solving algorithm during his undergrad studies. Despite showing unparalleled prowess in an important part of Survivor, he wouldn’t be targeted for it until the merge.

Everyone wanted to be his friend on the David tribe, starting with Gabby and later Nick as they worked to blindside Jessica. Even with that harsh betrayal, people wanted to believe it was Gabby’s main prerogative, showing just how naturally everyone clung onto his every word. Even with three Goliaths on Tiva, he blended in with the macho bros, becoming the Comptroller of Slam Town as one of the Brochachos.

Once the merge came around, after failing to form a six-person alliance with half Goliath and David players, Christian was seen as the prototypical hero of Survivor: David vs. Goliath, hence the immediate need to take him out. Even a one-round delay was enough for the Davids, feeling down and needing to work together en route to protecting Christian in multiple rounds to take out the Goliath Brochachos.

Once Alec was voted out, it became clear that the biggest threat facing Christian and his closest ally, Gabby, was Carl the Godfather. It was there that Christian made his most crucial misstep, taking out Carl without consulting Nick, who felt betrayed by his actions. It meant that the Goliaths and Davids had the ammunition and the reasoning to vote him out.
