Survivor Edge of Extinction episode 3 promo: Secret no more

Though we get to see a lot of the character moments in the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 2 promo, we also get spoiled on a major event.

I said it during my recap of this week’s episode, and I’ll say it again; the weaponizing of the Edge of Extinction twist to turn it into a falsely dramatic gimmick with a cliffhanger is a slap in the face to the Survivor audience. This isn’t The Challenge; you don’t need to pull off the video version of clickbait to keep your loyal audience coming back week after week, especially when everyone knows Keith isn’t leaving yet.

Even worse than the cliffhanger is the fact that CBS cannot help themselves but spoil the audience with the results of Keith’s conundrum almost immediately. After releasing this week’s press photos, which barely tried hiding Keith’s presence on Extinction Island, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3 promo shows Keith arriving on the island and Reem talking to him.

That’s right, CBS thought it was best to advertise the upcoming episode by reminding people, “Hey, remember that cliffhanger tease we needlessly added to last week’s episode? Well, we decided to suck out all the drama of the decision for absolutely no reason. He’s back. Deal with it.” Like, why go through the trouble if you’re not even going to wait 24 hours before letting the cat out of the bag?

Meanwhile, over at Manu, more machetes are being pointed at others, David insists everyone has lost their minds, and Wendy suffers a devastating injury to her ankle. Considering she’s already on the outs and nobody who has gone through that brutal an injury this early has gone far into the game (Mamma C. doesn’t count too late into Worlds Apart), it’s like CBS wants to push past the inevitable early and get to the interesting gameplay later.

Will Wendy quit, get medically evacuated or voted out of the game? Will Kama ever lose a challenge before the tribe swap? Will a returnee be the next one voted out? We’ll find out when Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 3, “Betrayals Are Going to Be Exposed,” airs on Wednesday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
