The swap is here, bringing two tribes together and mixing them into three, with the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 4 press photos teasing the future.
This post will show the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 4 press photos, but it does not show which players are swapped to which tribes.
Swap episodes are a bit mundane for Survivor press photos. Since it’s usually the first event to take place the day after the most recent player was voted out, and the show doesn’t want to spoil which players go to which tribes. That is the case for the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 4 press photos, but thankfully we have some post-episode-3 photos to balance things out.
As hinted at in the “Next Time On Survivor” preview to cap off this week’s episode, the tribes will swap from two to three. It’s not as exciting as Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers when three tribes swapped into three tribes for the first (and only) time in the show’s history, but with returnees, it does create a few interesting scenarios.
Will we see a two-two-zero split on the tribes for returnees? Four-one-zero? Will we mysteriously get the tribe majority scenario across all three swapped tribes that see three Kama members and two Manu? Will we see Joe and Kelley on the same tribe again?
Here are the tribe buffs hidden in red bow-sealed packages. We can reasonably expect the men to grab buffs on the right tray, seeing how there are seven men and eight women left in the “known” game.
This is the moment that the Kama tribe learns that they will be part of a tribe swap. Naturally, with no challenge set up in the background, they should expect it, but maybe not swapping into three tribes. Actually, it’s too common not to expect at this point.
The Manu tribe looks more than happy to switch things up, with everyone looking downright gleeful to potentially not be on a tribe where they have someone sabotage the chickens they won at a Reward Challenge. Wendy’s ankle is still wrapped up, too.
Here we see Aubry playfully grab at a buff, but it’s interesting to see the reactions. Julia, Victoria, Aurora and Aubry look joyful, while Ron and Joe look a bit dismayed.
There’s not much else to show except for the Immunity Challenge, which confirms that the third tribe will be green. Historically, third tribes created at the swap have gone on to win challenges at an extraordinary rate.
This Immunity challenge looks like a variation on the Thrash, Splash & Bash challenge seen in Survivor: Philippines and Survivor: Worlds Apart, with tribes needed to climb up huge obstacles, carry a trunk of potential puzzle pieces and fill them in a standing puzzle frame at the end.

There are not a lot of Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 4 press photos, so we’ve included some from the previous episode made available after it aired.
